The situation

The HR head of a Taguig shared-services centre learns that two voice accounts will move to AI agents next year, while the parent group wants a new analytics and fraud team. She needs fifteen data analysts and four security engineers, and would rather retrain her best team leads.

In Iloilo, a public-hospital nurse is comparing an offer abroad with a healthcare-outsourcing role in the city. Both want to know which jobs are genuinely growing in the Philippines in 2026, and what they pay.

The Philippine labour market had a rough middle of 2026. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority’s Labor Force Survey for July 2026, unemployment rose to 6.0 per cent, the highest since 2022, with 3.14 million people jobless as 1.33 million young people entered the labour market. Underemployment stood at 12.9 per cent.

Underneath, demand is shifting. The IT-BPM industry is redesigning work around AI, the state is spending a record PHP 1.556 trillion on infrastructure, hospitals cannot keep nurses, and the government has launched a US$34.4 billion AI-infrastructure roadmap. This guide ranks the fastest growing jobs in the Philippines 2026, with pay, credentials, hotspots and a hiring playbook. It is part of the Rising Professions 2026 hub on kurums.

Key Takeaways

Which jobs are rising fastest in the Philippines in 2026?
AI engineers, data analysts and cybersecurity specialists, then nurses, data-centre and civil engineers.

Is the outsourcing industry still hiring?
Yes, but more slowly. IBPAP expects 1.96 million IT-BPM workers in 2026 and has cut its 2028 target from 2.5 million to between 1.85 and 2.14 million because of AI.

Where is the biggest shortage?
Health. The EDCOM II commission projects a shortage of 196,000 nurses and 94,000 doctors.

Which jobs are rising fastest in the Philippines in 2026?

AI and machine-learning engineers, data analysts and cybersecurity specialists lead the 2026 list, driven by AI adoption in outsourcing. Nurses, data-centre engineers and civil engineers follow, pulled by a health-worker exodus, the AI-infrastructure roadmap and record public works.

LinkedIn has not published a 2026 Jobs on the Rise edition for the Philippines, so this ranking combines PSA, Jobstreet, IBPAP, EDCOM II, government investment plans and 2026 salary data. Rank reflects the strength of the demand signal, not one growth percentage.

Rank Profession Why it is rising Demand signal (source) Typical advertised pay
1 AI / machine-learning engineer Clients automate BPM workflows Jobstreet Q1 2026: “remarkable rise”; DICT targets 500,000 AI jobs No reliable 2026 range published

10 Hotel, F&B and tour operations specialist Domestic travel growth PSA: tourism jobs up 2.5% to 7.7 million in 2025 No reliable 2026 range published

The list splits in two. The first group is digital work built on the outsourcing base: AI, analytics, security, programme management and AI-assisted CX. Global clients are moving from buying seats to buying outcomes, so the country must climb the value chain.

The second group is physical and licensed: nurses and civil, data-centre and mining engineers. Demand comes from public spending, resources and emigration. In both groups the bottleneck is experienced people, not applicants.

What is driving demand for these professions?

Six forces drive 2026 demand in the Philippines: AI reshaping the IT-BPM industry, a national AI-infrastructure plan, health-worker emigration, record infrastructure spending, nickel and critical minerals, and tourism. Each creates scarce, experienced roles rather than mass entry-level hiring.

AI is reshaping the IT-BPM industry

According to IBPAP, the IT-BPM industry ended 2025 with US$40 billion in revenue and about 1.9 million workers, adding roughly 80,000 jobs, and forecasts US$42.3 billion and 1.96 million workers for 2026.

Growth is slowing. In July 2026 IBPAP cut its 2028 roadmap from US$59 billion and 2.5 million jobs to US$43.3–50.5 billion and 1.85–2.14 million workers, citing AI adoption. New hiring tilts toward analytics, BI, project management and transformation work for global capability centres.

The national AI and data-centre roadmap

In September 2026 the Department of Information and Communications Technology launched an eight-year AI infrastructure roadmap (PAIIM 2026–2033) worth about US$34.4 billion in public and private investment. It aims to lift AI computing capacity from about 50 MW to 1.5 GW by 2033, with 400 MW of AI-optimised data-centre capacity in the first phase to 2030.

It also targets 1.3 million people trained for AI work, over 500,000 AI-related jobs and about 175,000 construction jobs, lifting demand for electrical, mechanical, network and cloud engineers.

Health workers keep leaving

The second congressional commission on education (EDCOM II) estimates the country needs about 290,000 more health professionals, with projected shortages of 196,000 nurses and 94,000 doctors. The Philippines has 21.2 health workers per 10,000 people, less than half the WHO benchmark of 44.5, and about 27,000 health workers emigrate every year.

Of about 59,000 students who enrol in health programmes each year, roughly 32,000 become licensed, so hospitals, healthcare BPO firms and overseas recruiters compete for the same nurses.

Record infrastructure spending

The 2026 national budget sets aside a record PHP 1.556 trillion (about US$25.5 billion) for the Build Better More programme, equal to 5.1 per cent of GDP, across 54 flagship projects. These include the Bataan–Cavite Interlink Bridge, the Laguna Lakeshore Road Network, the North–South Commuter Railway and the Metro Manila Subway.

Rail, bridge and flood-control works need civil, structural and geotechnical engineers, quantity surveyors, project-control specialists and safety officers; experienced site leaders are the hardest to find.

Nickel and critical minerals

According to the ILO, the Philippines holds the world’s sixth-largest nickel reserves and is a leading exporter of nickel ore, with exports of about US$1.47 billion a year. Mining employs more than 207,000 people, concentrated in Caraga and Palawan.

Higher output and plans for domestic processing lift demand for mining and metallurgical engineers, environmental and safety officers, and community-relations specialists.

Tourism and hospitality

The PSA reports that tourism employment rose 2.5 per cent to 7.7 million in 2025, 15.7 per cent of all jobs, even as tourism’s GDP share slipped to 8.1 per cent. Domestic tourism spending grew 3 per cent to PHP 3.26 trillion, while inbound spending fell 6.4 per cent.

That favours hotel, F&B and tour-operations roles serving domestic travellers.

What do the rising jobs pay in the Philippines?

Pay varies widely. Typical advertised ranges run from about PHP 22,000–28,000 a month for civil engineers to PHP 150,000–300,000 for senior security engineers, while data and finance leaders can earn PHP 5–6 million a year.

Figures are typical advertised ranges, not promises. USD figures are approximate, converted at about PHP 61 to the dollar.

Role Typical advertised pay Source / year
Senior security engineer / architect PHP 150k–300k/month (US$2,460–4,920) Postings review, 2026
Data analyst PHP 32,951/month average (US$540); Taguig PHP 39,275 Indeed Philippines, Oct 2026
SOC analyst PHP 25k–45k/month (US$410–740) Postings review, 2026
Cloud security engineer PHP 70k–200k/month (US$1,150–3,280) Postings review, 2026
Nurse I / II / III (government) PHP 42,178 / 45,694 / 49,562 per month (US$690–810) SSL third tranche, effective Jan 2026
Civil engineer PHP 22k–28k/month (US$360–460) Jobstreet, Nov 2026
Structural / geotechnical engineer About PHP 38k / PHP 33k per month (US$620 / 540) Jobstreet, Nov 2026

Finance director, shared services Up to PHP 6.2M/year (US$101,600) Michael Page Salary Guide 2026

The digital-versus-licensed gap matters most. A mid-level security engineer can earn PHP 60,000–120,000 a month, up to almost three times a government nurse’s starting pay and several times a site civil engineer’s advertised range, which helps explain nurse emigration. For licensed roles, benchmark against overseas offers too.

City matters. Indeed shows Taguig data analysts earning about PHP 6,300 a month above the national average, and Jobstreet lists civil-engineer averages of PHP 70,000 in San Juan City against a national range of PHP 22,000–28,000. Advertised ranges reflect only employers that publish pay. For a cross-country view, see the rising-jobs salary comparison.

Which skills, degrees and certifications unlock these roles?

Licensed roles need a degree plus a Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) licence; digital roles reward vendor certifications and a portfolio. TESDA National Certificates cover technician and hospitality routes, and cloud or security credentials speed a move out of BPO operations.

  • AI / machine-learning engineer: a computing or maths degree; AWS Machine Learning – Specialty, Google Professional ML Engineer or Azure AI Engineer; a portfolio of deployed models.
  • Data / BI analyst: SQL, Python and a BI tool, with credentials such as Microsoft PL-300 (Power BI) or the Google Data Analytics certificate.
  • Cybersecurity / SOC analyst: CompTIA Security+ or ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity at entry level; CEH, OSCP or AZ-500 for mid-level; CISSP, CISM or CISA for leadership.
  • Registered nurse: a BS Nursing degree and a pass in the Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination (PNLE) through the PRC Board of Nursing; NCLEX for US roles.
  • Civil / structural engineer: a BS Civil Engineering degree and the PRC Civil Engineer licensure exam; PMP for project-controls roles.
  • Data-centre engineer: a licensed electrical or mechanical engineer (PRC) or a TESDA NC II/III technician route, plus data-centre credentials such as CDCP.
  • Safety officer (construction, mining, data centres): DOLE-accredited Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) training.

Where are the jobs? Regional hotspots

Metro Manila still dominates digital hiring, but IBPAP names Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod, Davao, Cagayan de Oro and Clark as growth hubs. Engineering demand follows flagship projects in Central Luzon and Calabarzon, and mining jobs cluster in Caraga and Palawan.

Region Why it is growing Roles in demand
Metro Manila (Taguig/BGC, Makati, Pasig, Quezon City) GCCs, banks, analytics and security teams; highest advertised pay AI, data, security, finance leaders
Cebu Second IT-BPM hub, growing GCC projects Data analysts, CX specialists, F&A
Clark and Central Luzon IT-BPM growth plus flagship rail and expressway works Civil engineers, project managers, CX
Iloilo, Bacolod IT-BPM growth outside Metro Manila, healthcare BPO Healthcare BPO, CX, nurses
Caraga and Palawan Nickel mining and processing Mining, metallurgical and EHS engineers
Calabarzon and Bataan Laguna Lakeshore Road Network, Bataan–Cavite bridge Civil, structural and geotechnical engineers

Provincial hubs offer lower payroll than Taguig or Makati but fewer senior specialists, so many firms keep leadership in Metro Manila and delivery in Cebu, Iloilo or Davao.

Which professions are losing ground?

Routine voice support, basic data entry and simple back-office processing are losing ground as AI handles standard transactions. Demand is not collapsing, but IBPAP’s downside scenario puts 2028 headcount below 2025 levels, which points to fewer entry-level seats.

Jobstreet’s 2025 data show the imbalance: call-centre and customer-service roles made up 9.1 per cent of listings but 12.3 per cent of active jobseekers, and hospitality jobseekers (9.8 per cent) also outnumbered openings in that family. Administration led listings at 28.6 per cent, yet it is highly exposed to automation.

Agriculture keeps shrinking as a share of jobs, at 19.7 per cent in July 2026. The answer is to move to the higher-skill version of the job: voice agent to case specialist, data entry to data quality.

Pro Tip: Before posting an AI or security vacancy, audit your contact-centre teams. Leads who already handle QA, workforce management or reporting can often reach a junior data or SOC role with a paid certification and a mentor, at lower cost than a Taguig market hire.

How should employers in the Philippines hire for scarce rising roles?

Benchmark against overseas and GCC offers, hire for skills, and build internal pipelines from your BPO workforce. Use DOLE’s Alien Employment Permit only for genuinely scarce specialists, and an employer of record if you have no Philippine entity.

  1. Benchmark against the real competitor. For AI and security roles it is a GCC or foreign remote employer; for nurses and engineers, an overseas recruiter. Refresh benchmarks twice a year.
  2. Hire for skills, not titles. Use work samples; many strong analysts come from operations or QA.
  3. Build internal academies. Fund Security+, PL-300 or AWS certifications for operations staff whose roles are being automated.
  4. Partner with TESDA and universities. Apprenticeships build supply of technicians and hospitality staff.
  5. Use foreign hires carefully. A foreign national normally needs a DOLE Alien Employment Permit, which involves a labour-market test, and a 9(g) pre-arranged employment visa from the Bureau of Immigration. Plan for processing time and an understudy.
  6. Use an EOR if you have no entity. An employer of record can hire and pay locally, including SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG contributions, while you test the market.
  7. Invest in employer brand. Career paths, hybrid work and health cover matter as much as base pay.

Risk: Do not overpay for “AI” titles. Many candidates relabel analytics work as AI engineering, so test for deployed models and data pipelines before matching senior offers. Training bonds must be reasonable, and permit and visa timing can delay a foreign specialist’s start by weeks.

What should job seekers and career changers do in 2026?

Pick one rising role, earn the credential employers screen for, and build proof of work. BPO staff should aim for the analytics, security or AI-assisted CX version of their job; licensed professionals should compare local and overseas offers on total value.

  1. Choose a target role from the ranking and list the skills in ten live job ads.
  2. Earn one recognised credential first, such as Security+, PL-300 or a TESDA NC II.
  3. Build a portfolio: dashboards, a home lab, or a documented automation from your current job.
  4. Use your BPO experience. Client handling and QA count for analyst roles.
  5. For nurses and engineers, price the full offer before choosing between overseas and local work.
  6. Look beyond Metro Manila. Cebu, Iloilo, Davao and Clark are hiring.
  7. Negotiate with data from salary guides and job-board ranges rather than a single quote.
