We compared six video interviewing platforms on published pricing, trials, one-way and live interview support, AI and review features, security credentials and the hiring volume each one is built for.

By Kurums EditorialPricing checked 12 October 2026Updated 13 October 2026How we make money
TL;DR
  • Small teams wanting low fixed cost: Hireflix — One-way interviews from $75 per month billed yearly for companies under 50 employees, with unlimited users, positions and responses.
  • Teams hiring for a few roles at a time: Willo — Willo Lite is pay as you go at $59 per live role per month, with up to 5 roles and 150 candidates per role.
  • SMBs needing one-way and live interviews: Spark Hire — Video Interviews plan at $249 per month billed annually with unlimited users, jobs, and live and one-way interviews.
  • Public sector and regulated employers: VidCruiter — Lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR and PIPEDA, with structured interviews, scheduling and data residency options.
  • Large enterprises with high volumes: HireVue — Reports 70M+ video interviews with on-demand and live formats, scheduling and audited AI-scored interviews.

Video interviewing software lets employers interview candidates over video, either live or one-way. In a one-way, also called asynchronous or on-demand, interview, candidates record answers to preset questions in their own time and the hiring team reviews them later. Live interviews run in real time, often with structured scorecards and calendar scheduling built in. The category solves slow first-round screening, scheduling across time zones, and inconsistent interviews between hiring managers. Buyers range from small businesses replacing phone screens to recruitment agencies sharing candidate videos with clients and large employers running thousands of interviews a month. Most tools now add transcripts, AI summaries and ATS integrations.

We compared each platform on published pricing, free plan or trial, interview formats, review and AI features, security and compliance, and main limitation. Products are listed in practical buyer order, from low-cost self-serve tools with published prices to quote-led enterprise platforms. This order is not a quality ranking. Prices were checked on official vendor pricing pages on 12 October 2026 and are in USD unless stated. Willo publishes in several currencies, and we quote its USD prices. Confirm current terms with each vendor before you sign.

The 6 options in detail

1

Hireflix

Best for low-cost one-way screening

Best for: Small and mid-size companies that want simple one-way video interviews at a low fixed price with no user or response limits.

AttributeHireflix
Published pricingSmall $75 per month and Medium $150 per month, billed yearly; Custom plan by quote for corporates and agencies
Free plan or trial1 month free on Small and Medium plans
Interview formatsOne-way video interviews with video or text questions, custom intro and outro videos, timing and retake settings
Review and AI featuresRatings, comments, transcriptions, video downloads, shareable links and team review
Security and complianceGDPR and SOC 2 compliance, SSO, audit logs and automatic candidate video deletion
Main limitationFocused on one-way interviews; live interviewing is not part of the published feature list
  • Unlimited user seats, positions and interview responses on every plan.
  • Candidates need no app or login, and invites can go by email, SMS or WhatsApp.
  • It covers one-way interviews only, so live interviews still need Zoom, Teams or another tool.

Our take: Hireflix fits a small or mid-size employer that wants to replace phone screens with one-way video interviews without a large contract. Pricing is set by company size: $75 per month billed yearly for under 50 employees and $150 for 50 to 250, with the first month free. Every plan includes unlimited users, positions and responses, so cost does not rise with hiring volume. You build a question set, send a link by email, SMS or WhatsApp, and review recordings with ratings, comments and transcripts. In a trial, test the candidate flow on a phone and check how your ATS integration or Zapier connection moves candidates between stages. Compared with Spark Hire, Hireflix is cheaper but lacks live interviews. Compared with Willo Lite, it suits steady hiring better, since Willo charges per live role while Hireflix is a flat fee. NGOs and young companies can ask about a 20% first-year discount.

2

Willo

Best for occasional, pay-as-you-go hiring

Best for: Teams that hire for a few roles at a time and want to pay only for the months and roles they actually use.

AttributeWillo
Published pricingLite $59 per live role per month, no contract; Enterprise $3,799 per year on a 1-year term, lower per year on 2 or 3-year terms
Free plan or trialNo free plan or trial listed; Lite is pay as you go; 50% nonprofit discount
Interview formatsOne-way video, audio and text responses with an assessment library, benchmarks and 18+ languages
Review and AI featuresCustom scorecards and Willo Intelligence AI summaries, insights and follow-up questions
Security and complianceISO 27001 certification, SSO and MFA on Enterprise; anti-cheat on both plans
Main limitationLite caps you at 5 live roles, 150 candidates per role and 5 users, with limited integrations
  • Lite charges only for live roles in a given month, which suits irregular hiring.
  • Enterprise integrates with 50+ ATS and HR systems, including Workday, Greenhouse and Lever.
  • Lite integrations are limited to Zapier and Integrately, and SSO and long data retention require Enterprise.

Our take: Willo suits employers whose hiring comes in bursts. On Lite you pay $59 per live role per month with no contract, so a team hiring for two roles in one month and none the next pays only for what it uses. Lite allows up to 5 live roles, 150 assessed candidates per role and 5 users, and includes the assessment library, scorecards, anti-cheat and Willo Intelligence AI summaries. Enterprise costs $3,799 per year in USD on a one-year term, with 10% and 15% lower annual rates on two and three-year terms, and adds SSO, 12+ months of data retention, a dedicated success manager and 50+ ATS integrations. In a trial, check how Willo Intelligence summaries match your own read of answers. Compared with Hireflix, Willo is cheaper for very light use and has stronger AI features; compared with Spark Hire, it does not list live interviews but offers more flexible billing.

Spark Hire

Best for SMBs needing one-way and live

Best for: Small and mid-size businesses that want both one-way and live video interviews with unlimited users on a published annual price.

AttributeSpark Hire
Published pricingVideo Interviews $249 per month billed annually or $299 monthly; prices marked starting at and vary by company size
Free plan or trialNo free trial mentioned on the pricing page
Interview formatsUnlimited one-way and live interviews; behavioral assessment and an ATS sold as separate products
Review and AI featuresTeam review of recorded interviews; annual plans include live training and a customer success manager
Security and complianceSecurity details not listed on the pricing page; ask for documentation
Main limitationMonthly plan limits you to 5 users and 5 open jobs; no published trial
  • Annual Video Interviews plan includes unlimited users, jobs, and live and one-way interviews.
  • Optional behavioral assessment and a Recruit ATS are available from the same vendor.
  • The monthly plan caps users and jobs at 5, and prices rise with company size beyond the starting rates.

Our take: Spark Hire fits a small or mid-size business that wants one tool for both one-way screens and live interviews. The annual Video Interviews plan costs $249 per month billed annually and includes unlimited users, jobs and interviews, along with live training and a customer success manager. The monthly plan costs $299 and limits you to 5 users and 5 jobs at a time, which can work for a short hiring push. Spark Hire also sells a behavioral assessment at the same price points and a Recruit ATS from $335 per month billed annually, so a growing company can consolidate tools. In a demo, ask how pricing changes for your headcount, since the page notes that prices vary by company size. Compared with Hireflix and Willo, Spark Hire costs more but adds live interviews. Compared with VidCruiter and HireVue, it publishes prices and is quicker to roll out, with fewer enterprise compliance features.

Criteria Interview

Best for pairing interviews with assessments

Best for: HR teams that want async and live video interviews from the same vendor that supplies their aptitude and personality tests.

AttributeCriteria Interview
Published pricingQuote-based; Interview plan sold alone or within Criteria Hire with assessments
Free plan or trial14-day free trial
Interview formatsAsync video interviewing and real-time video interviews with transcripts, summaries and insights

  • Combines video interviews with cognitive, personality and skills tests in Criteria Hire.
  • Offers a 14-day free trial before pricing discussions.
  • Prices are not published, and the most advanced AI features are paid upgrades.

Our take: Criteria Interview suits HR teams that already use or plan to use Criteria's assessments and want interviews in the same workflow. The Interview plan covers async video interviewing and real-time video interviews with transcripts, summaries and insights, along with branded candidate experience, SSO, MFA and standard ATS integrations. Criteria Hire bundles this with the full assessment library, so you can send a cognitive test and a one-way interview in one invitation. An AI Interview upgrade adds AI features and an AI Interview Agent for conversational screening. Pricing is by quote, but a 14-day free trial lets you test the candidate flow first. In the trial, check transcript quality, how summaries handle accents and technical terms, and how results reach your ATS. Compared with Spark Hire, Criteria adds validated assessments but hides its prices. Compared with HireVue, it is lighter to deploy and better suited to mid-size employers.

5

VidCruiter

Best for regulated and public-sector hiring

Best for: Government agencies, healthcare and other regulated employers that need structured, auditable interviews and strong security credentials.

AttributeVidCruiter
Published pricingQuote-based; pricing customized to recruitment needs
Free plan or trialNo free trial mentioned
Interview formatsPre-recorded and live interviews, including panel and hybrid sessions, with self-serve scheduling

Security and complianceSOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018, GDPR, PIPEDA, CCPA, VPAT and data residency options
Main limitationNo public pricing or trial, so evaluation requires a sales process
  • Lists a broad set of security and privacy credentials, including ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II.
  • Supports structured, auditable interviews suited to public-sector procurement.
  • No published price or trial, and the full suite may be more than a small employer needs.

Our take: VidCruiter fits employers that must show a fair, documented hiring process, such as government agencies, healthcare systems and regulated industries. It supports pre-recorded interviews with configurable prep and response times, live one-on-one, group, panel and hybrid interviews, and self-serve scheduling synced with Outlook and Google calendars. Structured interviews use standardized questions, rubrics, scorecards and multi-evaluator scoring, with auditable records. Its compliance list is the most extensive on this page, including SOC 2 Type II, several ISO certifications, GDPR, PIPEDA, CCPA, a VPAT and data residency options. VidCruiter also offers references, skills testing and an ATS. Pricing is by quote. In a demo, ask for audit trail exports, accessibility documentation and pricing by module. Compared with Spark Hire, VidCruiter is stronger on structure and compliance but costs more to evaluate. Compared with HireVue, it focuses more on structured and regulated hiring than on very large-scale automation.

6

HireVue

Best for large enterprise interview volumes

Best for: Large employers that run very high interview volumes and want on-demand and live interviews with automated scheduling and AI insights.

AttributeHireVue
Published pricingQuote-based; no plan prices published
Free plan or trialNo free trial listed; candidates use it free with no app download
Interview formatsOn-demand one-way interviews and live interviews in HireVue, Zoom, Teams or Webex
Review and AI featuresInterview Insights with AI summaries, searchable transcripts and competency mapping; third-party audited AI scoring
Security and complianceAI explainability statement published; ask for security certifications in the sales process
Main limitationEnterprise focus and no public pricing make it a heavy choice for small teams
  • Reports 70M+ video interviews and enterprise customers such as Delta, IKEA and Pfizer.
  • Automated scheduling, routing and reminders reduce coordination work at scale.
  • No published pricing, and the platform is built for enterprise volume rather than occasional hiring.

Our take: HireVue fits large employers that interview thousands of candidates and need automation across scheduling, interviews and assessments. Candidates complete on-demand interviews in their own time, and HireVue reports that 65% of interviews in one dataset were completed after hours. Live interviews can run in HireVue or in Zoom, Teams or Webex, with shared structure and notes for panels. Interview Insights produces AI summaries, transcripts, competency mapping and highlights, and HireVue states that AI-scored interviews receive third-party audits and that employers make final decisions. It also offers assessments and an AI Interviewer. Pricing is by quote. In a demo, ask how AI scoring is configured, how candidates are told about it, and what adverse impact monitoring you receive. Compared with VidCruiter, HireVue puts more weight on large-scale automation; compared with Spark Hire or Hireflix, it is far more capable but far heavier to buy and implement.

How to choose video interviewing software

Decide between one-way, live or both

One-way interviews save the most time at the screening stage, because candidates record in their own time and reviewers can watch quickly. Live interviews work better for later rounds and for roles where conversation matters. Hireflix and Willo focus on one-way interviews, while Spark Hire, Criteria, VidCruiter and HireVue support both. If you already use Zoom or Teams for live interviews, a one-way tool may be enough. If you want scorecards and scheduling for live rounds in one place, pick a platform that covers both formats.

Match the pricing model to your hiring pattern

Pricing models vary widely. Hireflix charges a flat yearly-billed fee by company size with unlimited responses. Willo Lite charges per live role per month, which suits irregular hiring. Spark Hire charges a flat monthly fee with lower annual pricing. Criteria, VidCruiter and HireVue quote based on volume and modules. Count how many roles you hire for each month and how steady that is, then compare the annual cost of each model. Steady hiring usually favors flat fees, while bursty hiring favors pay as you go.

Evaluate AI features carefully

Most platforms now offer transcripts and AI summaries, and some offer AI scoring or AI interview agents. These can speed up review but raise fairness and disclosure questions. Ask how AI outputs are generated, whether they score candidates or only summarize, and whether the model has been independently audited. HireVue says its AI-scored interviews receive third-party audits. Check local rules on automated decision-making and candidate notice before turning on scoring. Many employers use AI summaries but keep scoring decisions with trained human reviewers.

Check security, privacy and retention

Candidate videos are personal data, often with biometric aspects. Ask for security certifications and data handling details. VidCruiter lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and several privacy frameworks, Hireflix lists GDPR, SOC 2 and automatic video deletion, and Willo Enterprise lists ISO 27001. Confirm where data is stored, how long videos are kept, how candidates can request deletion, and whether data residency is available. These points matter most for public-sector employers and companies hiring across several countries. Ask for a copy of the data processing agreement early.

Test the candidate experience

A confusing or demanding interview drives good candidates away. Complete a one-way interview yourself on a phone using mobile data, and note whether an app or login is needed, how many retakes are allowed, and how clear the instructions are. Hireflix and HireVue both state that candidates need no app download. Check language support if you hire internationally, accessibility options, and how candidates get help if a recording fails. Keep one-way interviews short, usually three to five questions, to protect completion rates.

How video interviewing software pricing works

Published prices on this page fall into three groups. Flat subscription plans charge a fixed fee regardless of interview volume: Hireflix costs $75 per month billed yearly for companies under 50 employees and $150 for 50 to 250 employees, and Spark Hire's Video Interviews plan costs $249 per month billed annually or $299 monthly. Usage-based plans charge for what you use: Willo Lite costs $59 per live role per month, with up to 5 live roles. Enterprise plans are quoted: Willo Enterprise is published at $3,799 per year in USD on a one-year term, while Criteria, VidCruiter and HireVue do not publish prices.

Plan limits shape the real cost. Spark Hire's monthly plan allows 5 users and 5 open jobs, while its annual plan removes those limits. Willo Lite caps candidates at 150 per live role and users at 5. Hireflix includes unlimited users, positions and responses. Enterprise contracts often charge for add-ons such as AI scoring, assessments, scheduling, SSO, extra data retention or premium integrations. Multi-year terms can lower annual costs, as Willo's 2 and 3-year Enterprise rates show. Ask whether prices rise at renewal and what happens to stored videos if you cancel.

To compare fairly, estimate your annual interview volume and number of roles, then calculate each option's annual cost including add-ons. For low and irregular volume, usage-based pricing is often cheaper. For steady or growing volume, a flat annual plan usually wins. Remember to include the reviewer time each option saves, since hours spent watching recordings or scheduling calls are often a larger cost than the subscription itself. A short pilot gives you real numbers for this estimate.

Buying tip

Before committing, run one real role through your top two tools in parallel. Compare candidate completion rates, how long reviewers spend per candidate and whether hiring managers trust the output. Those three numbers tell you more than any feature list.

Video Interviewing Software: frequently asked questions

What is a one-way video interview?

A one-way, or asynchronous, video interview is one where candidates record answers to preset questions on their own schedule, without a live interviewer. The hiring team reviews recordings later, often with ratings, comments and transcripts. One-way interviews are mainly used for first-round screening because they save scheduling time and let several reviewers assess the same answers consistently.

How much does video interviewing software cost?

On this page, Hireflix starts at $75 per month billed yearly, Willo Lite costs $59 per live role per month, Spark Hire costs $249 per month billed annually or $299 monthly, and Willo Enterprise costs $3,799 per year in USD on a one-year term. Criteria, VidCruiter and HireVue price by quote. Total cost depends on volume, users, add-ons and contract length.

Is there free video interviewing software?

None of the six products here offers a permanent free plan. Hireflix gives one month free on its Small and Medium plans, and Criteria offers a 14-day free trial. Willo Lite has no contract, so you can use it for a single month. General video conferencing tools can handle live interviews, but they lack one-way recording, scorecards and structured review.

Do candidates need to download an app?

Usually not. Hireflix and HireVue state that candidates need no app download, and VidCruiter says candidates can join live interviews with one click. Most platforms run in a mobile or desktop browser. Check the candidate experience yourself on a phone, since browser permissions for camera and microphone can still cause problems for some candidates.

Is AI scoring of video interviews legal?

Rules vary by country and state. Some jurisdictions require notice, consent or bias audits when automated tools assess candidates, and data protection laws can restrict automated decisions. Ask vendors what their AI does, how it is audited and how candidates are informed. This is general information, not legal advice; consult employment counsel before enabling AI scoring.

Can video interviewing software integrate with my ATS?

Most platforms integrate with major applicant tracking systems, though depth varies by plan. Willo Enterprise lists 50+ ATS and HR integrations, including Workday, Greenhouse and Lever, while Willo Lite is limited to Zapier and Integrately. Hireflix offers ATS integrations, an API, webhooks, Zapier and Make. Criteria, VidCruiter and HireVue include ATS integrations. Confirm your specific ATS before buying.
