We compared six financial consolidation tools on published pricing, trials, intercompany eliminations, currency translation, data integrations and controls, and named the main limitation each multi-entity finance team should check.

By Kurums EditorialPricing checked 12 October 2026Updated 13 October 2026How we make money
TL;DR
  • Small groups on Xero or QuickBooks: Joiin — Published pricing from $23 per month billed annually for one company, with a 14-day free trial and no card required.
  • Advisors and franchise groups: Fathom — Pro plan at $450 per month includes 25 companies, unlimited consolidated groups and a 14-day free trial.
  • Excel-first mid-market finance: Datarails — Consolidates entities on different charts of accounts with intercompany eliminations and currency translation in Excel.
  • Acquisitive mid-market groups: Vena — Handles ownership, minority interests, CTA and consolidated cash flow in an Excel-native interface.
  • Global enterprises: OneStream — Unifies consolidation, reconciliations and US GAAP to IFRS adjustments with SOX 302 and 404 support.

Financial consolidation software combines the trial balances of several legal entities into group financial statements. It maps different charts of accounts to a group chart, translates foreign-currency results, eliminates intercompany balances and transactions, applies ownership percentages and minority interests, and records top-side adjustments with an audit trail. Without it, groups rely on spreadsheet workbooks that are slow to update and hard to audit. Buyers range from owners and advisors of small groups running Xero or QuickBooks in each company, to mid-market CFOs whose businesses grow by acquisition, to group controllers at multinational enterprises that report under US GAAP, IFRS and local standards and must close quickly under SOX or regulatory scrutiny.

We compared each product on six fields: published pricing, free plan or trial, eliminations and currency handling, data sources and integrations, controls and reporting, and the main limitation. Products are listed in practical buyer order, from self-serve tools with published prices for small groups to quote-led enterprise platforms. This order is not a quality ranking. Prices and plan details were checked on official vendor pages on 12 October 2026, in US dollars. Where no price is published we write Quote-based instead of citing third-party estimates.

Pricing checked 12 October 2026 on each vendor's official pricing or product pages. Prices are list prices in USD unless stated; "Quote-based" means the vendor does not publish a price. Order follows buyer fit and pricing transparency, not a quality score. Confirm billing basis, minimums and taxes with the vendor before you buy. Methodology is described below.

The 6 options in detail

1

Joiin

Best for small groups on cloud ledgers

Best for: Small and mid-size groups and their accountants that run each entity on Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar and need consolidated reports quickly.

AttributeJoiin
Published pricingYes: priced by company count, e.g. 1 company $23/mo annual or $28 monthly; 10 companies $92/mo annual; 100 companies $252/mo
Free plan or trial14-day free trial on the Max plan, no credit card required
Eliminations and currencyChart of accounts mapping and eliminations on all plans; multi-currency on Pro and Max; own FX rates on Max
Data sources and integrationsXero, QuickBooks, Intuit Enterprise Suite, Sage, MYOB, FreeAgent, Zoho Books, Fortnox and more
Controls and reportingConsolidated P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, KPIs, AR/AP ageing; budgets vs actuals; Excel and PDF packs
Main limitationBuilt for management reporting; not a statutory or SOX-grade close platform
  • Unlimited users, reports and clients are included on all plans, so adding reviewers or advisors does not raise cost.
  • Automated intercompany eliminations for loans, sales and other transactions are available on every plan.
  • It reads data from cloud accounting systems and is aimed at management reporting, so complex ownership structures and statutory consolidation need more specialist tools.

Our take: Joiin connects to the accounting system in each entity, maps charts of accounts to a group structure and produces consolidated P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, KPI and ageing reports. Eliminations are included on every plan, multi-currency reporting starts on Pro, and Max adds your own FX rates, the Excel add-in options and API access. Pricing is published by number of companies: one company is $23 per month billed annually or $28 monthly, ten companies $92 per month annually, and 100 companies $252 per month annually. A 14-day trial on Max needs no card. In a trial, connect two real entities with an intercompany loan and check that eliminations and FX conversion produce the balances you expect. Compared with Fathom, Joiin is cheaper for a handful of entities and more focused on consolidation; compared with Datarails or Vena, it suits groups that do not need planning models or complex ownership calculations.

2

Fathom

Best for advisors and franchise group reporting

Best for: Accountants, franchise groups and SMB owners who want consolidated management reports, KPIs and forecasts across many companies.

AttributeFathom
Published pricingYes: Pro $450 per month for 25 companies plus $17 per extra; Portfolio from $67/mo for 100 companies; Enterprise quote
Free plan or trial14-day free trial on Pro and Portfolio with all features
Eliminations and currencyConsolidated groups included free on Pro; check elimination and FX handling for your structure in the trial
Data sources and integrationsXero, QuickBooks Online and Desktop, MYOB, Sage, Excel and Google Sheets imports
Controls and reportingManagement reports, KPIs, AI commentary, benchmarking and cash flow forecasting
Main limitationConsolidation requires Pro; entry price assumes multiple companies
  • Unlimited consolidated groups are included on Pro, which suits franchise networks with several reporting groups.
  • Monthly billing with no minimum term or contract lowers the risk of trying it.
  • The $450 per month entry point is high for a group with only two or three entities, and consolidation is not available on the Portfolio tier.

Our take: Fathom is management reporting and forecasting software that includes multi-entity consolidation. It connects to Xero, QuickBooks Online and Desktop, MYOB and Sage, and imports other ledgers through Excel or Google Sheets. Fathom Pro is $450 per month with 25 companies included and $17 for each extra company, and consolidated groups are free and unlimited. Portfolio, from $67 per month for 100 companies, is an oversight tier for accounting firms, and companies must be upgraded to Pro for consolidations. Billing is monthly with no contract, and a 14-day trial includes all functionality. In a trial, build a group with an intercompany balance and a foreign entity and check how eliminations and currency are handled, because the public pages focus on reporting rather than consolidation mechanics. Compared with Joiin, Fathom adds richer KPIs, benchmarking and forecasting; compared with Datarails, it is aimed more at advisors and SMB groups than in-house FP&A teams.

Datarails

Best for Excel-first mid-market finance teams

Best for: Mid-market finance and FP&A teams that want to keep working in Excel while automating multi-entity consolidation, reporting and planning.

AttributeDatarails
Published pricingNo: Professional, Premium and Expert plans with quote requests; plans differ by integrations and users
Free plan or trialNo free trial listed
Eliminations and currencyAutomatic intercompany eliminations; multi-currency translation; consolidates entities on different charts of accounts
Data sources and integrationsVendor cites 600+ systems including NetSuite, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Dynamics 365 and Workday
Controls and reportingLive Excel reports, dashboards and PowerPoint packs; Month-End Close product on Expert
Main limitationPlan limits on integrations and users mean costs rise as more sources are connected
  • Finance teams keep their Excel models while Datarails handles data mapping, eliminations and translation underneath.
  • The Data Mapper standardizes data across entities, currencies and file formats without IT involvement.
  • Pricing is quote-based, and the entry Professional plan includes only one integration and two users.

Our take: Datarails is an Excel-native FP&A and finance platform with a consolidation module. It consolidates subsidiaries on different charts of accounts, applies currency translation and runs intercompany eliminations automatically, then delivers results as live Excel reports, dashboards or PowerPoint decks. The Data Mapper standardizes inputs across entities and file formats, and the vendor cites hundreds of integrations including NetSuite, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Dynamics 365 and Workday. Plans are Professional, Premium and Expert, all quote-based; Professional lists 1 integration and 2 users, while Expert adds Month-End Close and 15 users. In a demo, bring two entities on different charts and one foreign subsidiary, and check how mapping changes are versioned. Compared with Joiin or Fathom, Datarails adds planning and forecasting depth for in-house FP&A teams. Compared with Vena, both are Excel-centered, but Vena publishes more detail on ownership and minority interest handling.

4

Vena

Best for acquisitive groups needing Excel-native close

Best for: Mid-market and upper mid-market groups with multiple currencies and changing ownership structures that want consolidation inside a planning platform.

AttributeVena
Published pricingNo: Professional and Complete plans, quote-based; discounts noted for nonprofits and Dynamics 365 Business Central users
Free plan or trialNo free trial listed; demo
Eliminations and currencyAutomated intercompany eliminations, FX translation and CTA, ownership and minority interest calculations
Data sources and integrationsLoads entity trial balances with self-service chart mapping; Microsoft Teams, Power BI and PowerPoint links
Controls and reportingWorkflows, period locking, versioning and audit trails; top-side adjustments; consolidated cash flow
Main limitationPricing page does not say whether consolidation is included in either plan
  • Handles changing ownership structures and minority interests, which matters for groups that acquire or divest entities.
  • Produces a consolidated cash flow statement automatically alongside the P&L and balance sheet.
  • No published pricing, and you need to confirm whether consolidation is part of your plan or an additional purchase.

Our take: Vena is a planning and close platform with an Excel-native interface, and its financial consolidation solution covers the core mechanics a growing group needs: automated intercompany eliminations, FX translation with currency translation adjustment, ownership and minority interest calculations, top-side adjustments and an automated consolidated cash flow statement. Trial balances load from each entity and are mapped to the group chart through self-service mapping, with workflows, permissions, period locking and audit trails underneath. Results feed Power BI-based dashboards, Microsoft Teams through Vena Copilot and refreshable PowerPoint reports. Plans are Professional and Complete, both quote-based, and the pricing page does not say which includes consolidation. In a demo, model a partial acquisition mid-year and check minority interest and CTA results. Compared with Datarails, Vena publishes more detail on ownership logic. Compared with OneStream or CCH Tagetik, it is lighter to run and aimed at a broader mid-market.

OneStream

Best for global enterprises unifying close

Best for: Large, global enterprises that want consolidation, reconciliations, planning and reporting on one platform with SOX and multi-GAAP support.

AttributeOneStream
Published pricingNo: quote-based; CPM Express is a pre-configured package with predictable cost
Free plan or trialNo free trial listed; demo
Eliminations and currencyIntercompany eliminations and matching, currency translation, US GAAP and IFRS adjustments, local standards
Data sources and integrationsPre-built GL/ERP connectors for Oracle, SAP and Microsoft Dynamics; automated FX rate feeds in CPM Express
Controls and reportingCertifications, audit trails, SOX 302 and 404 support, reconciliations, journal entries, ASC 740 tax provisioning
Main limitationEnterprise platform with significant implementation unless CPM Express fits your scope
  • Consolidation, account reconciliations, transaction matching and journal entries run on one platform, reducing handoffs during close.
  • CPM Express offers pre-built templates and starter metadata for teams that want a faster, packaged deployment.
  • It is built for complex enterprises, and pricing is not published, so smaller groups may find the scope and cost hard to justify.

Our take: OneStream is a unified corporate performance management platform used by large organizations such as Costco, Nasdaq and Toyota, according to its site. For consolidation, it provides intercompany eliminations and matching, currency translation, adjustments between US GAAP and IFRS, support for local standards, certifications and audit trails with SOX 302 and 404 support. The same platform handles reconciliations, journal entries, planning and ASC 740 tax provisioning, and it has pre-built connectors for Oracle, SAP and Microsoft Dynamics. CPM Express is a pre-configured package with templates and starter metadata for teams that want faster deployment and more predictable cost. Pricing is quote-based. In evaluation, ask for an implementation plan with named partner resources and a reference customer in your industry. Compared with CCH Tagetik, OneStream covers a similar enterprise scope; compared with Vena or Datarails, it suits larger, more complex groups that want one system across close and planning.

CCH Tagetik

Best for regulated multinationals needing statutory consolidation

Best for: Global, multi-entity organizations in banking, insurance, manufacturing and CPG that need complex ownership, regulatory and ESG reporting alongside consolidation.

AttributeCCH Tagetik
Published pricingNo: quote-based through Wolters Kluwer
Free plan or trialNo free trial listed; demo
Eliminations and currencyAutomated intercompany eliminations, on-demand multi-currency conversion, minority interest and equity adjustments
Data sources and integrationsNative SAP HANA integration, multiple ERP connectors, Microsoft and Qlik integrations
Controls and reportingIFRS and GAAP built in; regulatory frameworks such as IFRS 17 and Solvency II; ESG reporting
Main limitationEnterprise scope and pricing are more than mid-market groups typically need
  • Handles complex ownership structures, legal entities and M&A activity with automatic minority interest and equity adjustments.
  • Cloud or on-premise deployment options suit organizations with data residency or IT policy constraints.
  • Pricing is not published, and the platform's breadth means a longer implementation than mid-market tools.

Our take: CCH Tagetik, from Wolters Kluwer, is an enterprise performance management platform with a strong financial close and consolidation module. It automates intercompany eliminations, runs multi-currency conversion on demand, and calculates minority interest and equity adjustments for complex ownership structures and M&A activity. IFRS and GAAP logic is built in, and the platform covers regulatory frameworks such as IFRS 17 and Solvency II for insurers, plus ESG and sustainability reporting. Integration options include native SAP HANA, multiple ERP connectors and Microsoft and Qlik, with cloud or on-premise deployment. Named customers include Agfa, Breitling and Orkla. Pricing is quote-based. In evaluation, test a mid-period ownership change and a regulatory report you file today. Compared with OneStream, CCH Tagetik places more emphasis on regulatory and ESG frameworks and offers on-premise deployment; compared with Vena, it is aimed at larger, more regulated groups.

How to choose financial consolidation software

Map your group structure and ownership

Draw your legal entity tree with ownership percentages, acquisition dates, functional currencies and reporting standards. If every entity is wholly owned and in one currency, a reporting-led tool such as Joiin or Fathom may be enough. Partial ownership, minority interests, mid-year acquisitions and equity method investments call for tools that calculate them directly, such as Vena, OneStream or CCH Tagetik. Share the entity tree with vendors before the demo and ask them to configure your actual structure rather than a sample company.

Test intercompany eliminations end to end

Intercompany balances that do not match are the most common reason consolidations are late. Check whether the tool identifies intercompany accounts automatically, matches counterparties, flags mismatches before close and posts eliminations with an audit trail. Joiin includes eliminations on all plans, Datarails and Vena automate them, and OneStream adds intercompany matching. In the demo, include a mismatched intercompany loan and see how the difference is surfaced, who resolves it, and how the final elimination entry is documented for auditors. Repeat the test for a mismatch in currency.

Check currency translation and CTA

If you have foreign subsidiaries, confirm how rates are loaded, which rates apply to income statement and balance sheet items, and how currency translation adjustment is calculated and presented. Joiin restricts multi-currency to Pro and Max and own FX rates to Max. Vena explicitly calculates CTA, and OneStream's CPM Express includes automated FX rate feeds. Ask whether historical rates can be maintained for equity accounts and whether you can rerun a prior period with corrected rates without breaking locked results.

Decide how much close and planning you need

Some teams only need consolidated management reports; others want consolidation tied to reconciliations, journal entries, budgeting and forecasting. Joiin and Fathom focus on reporting with budgets alongside actuals. Datarails and Vena combine consolidation with Excel-based planning. OneStream and CCH Tagetik unify close, consolidation, planning and regulatory reporting. Buying more platform than you need adds cost and implementation time, so be honest about the processes you will actually move into the tool in the first year. A phased plan, starting with consolidation and adding planning later, keeps the first rollout manageable.

Confirm controls, audit trail and reporting outputs

Auditors will ask how mapping changes, top-side adjustments and eliminations are approved and logged. Look for period locking, version control, role-based permissions and a report of all manual adjustments. If you are public or preparing for an IPO, check SOX support, as OneStream lists for sections 302 and 404. Also confirm that outputs match how you publish: board packs in PowerPoint, statutory statements, segment reporting or regulatory templates, and that refreshing them after a late adjustment is quick. Ask for a sample audit report from an existing customer setup.

How financial consolidation software pricing works

Consolidation tools for small and mid-size groups often publish prices based on the number of companies. Joiin lists one company at $23 per month billed annually or $28 monthly, ten companies at $92 per month annually and 100 companies at $252 per month annually, with unlimited users. Fathom Pro is $450 per month with 25 companies included and $17 for each extra company, billed monthly with no contract, and consolidated groups are free. Both offer 14-day free trials, which lets you test real entity data before paying. Check which plan tier unlocks multi-currency before you start a trial.

Mid-market and enterprise platforms are quote-based. Datarails lists Professional, Premium and Expert plans that differ by integrations, users and modules such as Month-End Close. Vena sells Professional and Complete plans and notes discounts for nonprofits and Dynamics 365 Business Central users. OneStream and CCH Tagetik quote based on modules, entities, users and deployment, and OneStream offers CPM Express as a packaged option with more predictable cost. Implementation, often through a partner, can be a substantial part of first-year spend for these platforms, so request a separate services estimate with clear scope.

When comparing quotes, confirm whether consolidation is included in the plan or sold as a module, how adding entities affects price, and what renewal terms apply. Prices here were checked on official pages on 12 October 2026 and can change. Ask for the entity count, user count and module list to be written into the order form so that later growth is priced predictably.

Financial Consolidation Software: frequently asked questions

What does financial consolidation software do?

It combines trial balances from multiple entities into group financial statements. Core functions include mapping entity charts of accounts to a group chart, currency translation, intercompany eliminations, ownership and minority interest calculations, top-side adjustments and consolidated reporting. Enterprise platforms add close management, certifications, audit trails and regulatory reporting. This is general information and not accounting advice.

How much does consolidation software cost?

Published prices on this page start at $23 per month billed annually for one company in Joiin, and Fathom Pro is $450 per month for 25 companies. Datarails, Vena, OneStream and CCH Tagetik are quote-based, typically priced by modules, entities and users, with implementation billed separately. Prices were checked on official vendor pages on 12 October 2026. Ask for a written quote.

Can I consolidate Xero and QuickBooks companies together?

Yes, several tools support mixed ledgers. Joiin lists Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, MYOB, Zoho Books and others on all plans, and Fathom connects to Xero, QuickBooks Online and Desktop, MYOB and Sage, with Excel imports for other systems. Check that account mapping can be maintained per entity and that changes in one ledger's chart do not break the group mapping.

When does a group need an enterprise consolidation platform?

Typical triggers include partial ownership and minority interests, many functional currencies, multiple GAAPs, SOX requirements, regulatory reporting, frequent acquisitions or a close that depends on many ERPs. At that point tools such as OneStream or CCH Tagetik, or upper mid-market options such as Vena, provide the controls and calculations that spreadsheet or reporting-led tools lack.

Do these tools handle intercompany eliminations automatically?

Joiin, Datarails, Vena, OneStream and CCH Tagetik all state that intercompany eliminations are automated. Fathom's public pages describe consolidation but do not detail elimination mechanics, so test that in its free trial. Automation still depends on consistent intercompany account coding across entities, so clean up account mapping before go-live. Confirm details in a demo.

How long does consolidation software take to implement?

Reporting-led tools such as Joiin and Fathom can connect entities and produce first reports within days, depending on mapping work. Mid-market platforms typically take weeks to a few months. Enterprise rollouts of OneStream or CCH Tagetik can take several months with a partner, although OneStream's CPM Express is designed to shorten that with pre-built templates.
