Six tools build a finance dashboard without a subscription, split between two hosted free plans that can be shared (Zoho Analytics, Databox), one free desktop authoring tool whose sharing is paid (Power BI Desktop), two open-source servers with no limits if you host them (Metabase, Superset) and one public-only platform that must not see your financials (Tableau Public). The finance-specific vendors — Fathom, Syft, Jirav — have no free plan. Prices are USD and were checked on 22 October 2026. How we score · All Kurums Free lists
TL;DR — the free dashboard tool that fits
- One person building reports from Excel or QuickBooks exports: Power BI Desktop — free download with no stated limits; publishing to others costs $14 a user.
- Team with a database and someone to host: Metabase Open Source — unlimited users self-hosted; or Apache Superset for 40-plus chart types.
- Small team, hosted, no servers: Zoho Analytics Free — unlimited dashboards for two users and 10,000 rows.
- Founder who wants one KPI board from three connected tools: Databox Free — three data sources, one dashboard, one user, daily sync.
Which financial reporting & dashboard tools tools have a free plan in 2026?
Every tool below produces a finance dashboard at no charge within its scope. Two are hosted and shareable within caps (Zoho Analytics, Databox), one is free to author and paid to share (Power BI Desktop), two are open source and unlimited if you run them (Metabase, Superset), and one is free because everything on it is public (Tableau Public). Fathom has no free plan; Syft, Looker Studio, Grafana and Klipfolio PowerMetrics could not be verified this month and are not listed.
The binding limit varies by model: rows and users on Zoho (10,000 and two), sources and dashboards on Databox (three and one), the sharing wall on Power BI, hosting effort on the open-source pair, and confidentiality on Tableau Public, which is unsuitable for private financials by design. The Free Score deducts for self-hosting under Friction and for the inability to share under Core job.
The table shows the binding limit and Free Score. Open a row for the full Scorecard with sharing rules, the upgrade trigger, the paid step and the page we checked.

Why it ranks here. Listed because people search for it; scored at zero on core job because a finance dashboard you cannot keep private does not do the job.
Which free dashboard tool has no credit-card requirement?
Power BI Desktop, Metabase, Superset and Tableau Public state they are free with no card. Zoho Analytics and Databox do not state a requirement. Nothing here auto-converts to a paid plan.
The practical question is sharing. Power BI is free until someone else needs to see the dashboard; Zoho and Databox share within their caps; the open-source pair share with anyone you give a login. Tableau Public shares with everyone, which for financials is the problem.

How we score free tiers
Duration (30): free forever scores 30, a 30-day-plus trial 15, a trial of 14 days or less 8, credit-based tiers 12. Capacity (30): whether the limits carry a team of three for twelve months. Core job (25): whether the free tier does the category’s main work — here, connecting to accounting or spreadsheet data and publishing a shareable finance dashboard. Friction (15): no card 15; card but no auto-charge 8; auto-charge 0; self-hosting deducts for setup and maintenance.
Each free tier was checked on the vendor’s pricing page on 22 October 2026; where the vendor page was silent, the Scorecard names the third-party source used. Free tiers change, so this list is re-verified every quarter and a discontinued free plan stays listed for one month with a notice. Order is by Free Score only. Kurums Free sells no placement; sponsorship, affiliate links and vendor requests never change a score, a rank or a label. Vendors can submit corrections through the Update your free tier form.
How did we verify these free tiers?
We opened each vendor’s pricing page and recorded the free tier’s limits, sharing rules and the paid step. Zoho Analytics’ Basic price did not render and is marked unverified. Fathom was checked and excluded (14-day trial, Portfolio $67 a month). Syft’s pricing page returned no content, Google’s Looker Studio pricing URL returned a 404, Grafana’s page returned unreadable data and Klipfolio’s page covered only its paid Klips product; all four are marked for re-verification rather than listed on a third-party source. Reach Reporting, Jirav and LiveFlow were not fetched.
Prices are USD. Metabase’s open-source licence is not named on its pricing page; Superset’s Apache 2.0 licence is stated on its project page.
Frequently asked questions
Is Power BI free?
Power BI Desktop is a free download with no stated limits for building reports. Sharing or publishing them to the Power BI service requires Pro at $14 a user a month.
Which free dashboard tool has no user limit?
Metabase Open Source and Apache Superset — both self-hosted with unlimited users. Among hosted free plans Zoho Analytics allows two users and Databox one.
Is Looker Studio still free?
Historically yes, but Google’s pricing page returned a 404 to our check this month, so we have not listed it. We will add it when the page is readable.
Can I put financial data on Tableau Public?
Everything published to Tableau Public is public. It is the wrong tool for management accounts or anything confidential.
Is there a free Fathom or Syft alternative?
Neither has a free plan. The nearest free route is exporting from your accounting tool into Metabase, Power BI Desktop or Zoho Analytics.
Which free tool connects to QuickBooks directly?
Databox Free, within its three-source cap. The others need a database connection or an export.
