TL;DR: Instatus fits teams that want a free public status page and will pay Pro for a custom domain and more monitors. Atlassian Statuspage fits B2B buyers whose customers already expect a Statuspage URL β Free exists with a subscriber cap, then Hobby $29/mo and up. Better Stack fits teams that want the page next to uptime checks. UptimeRobot fits teams that already monitor there and will accept its included page instead of a dedicated Statuspage bill.
A status page is the public or private URL that tells customers whether a component is up. It is not the checker itself, though many vendors sell both.
Every entry uses the same fields: published pricing, subscriber cap, custom domain, monitoring bundle and the main limitation. The order below is not a quality ranking. Instatus Free first. Statuspageβs printed Hobby $29 follows. Bundled tools last.

Statuspage Hobby $29 / Startup $99 / Business $399 and Instatus Free/Pro caps were the public figures in circulation with vendor pages on 15 September 2026. Confirm subscriber counts on the live grid before a launch email.
Two products start at $0. Statuspage sells subscriber brackets. UptimeRobot gives you a page if you already monitor.
Subscribers are the meter
A consumer app with 40,000 email subscribers does not fit Statuspage Free (100) or Hobby without reading the next cap. Instatus Free lists 200 subscribers and no custom domain. Count the list before you pick a logo.
The four providers in detail
1. Instatus
FREE PAGE, PAY FOR DOMAIN
Best for: SaaS teams that want a public page quickly and will pay when they need a custom domain and SMS.
| Published pricing | Starter Free: 15 monitors, 2-minute checks, 5 members, 200 subscribers, public page, no custom domain. Pro: 50 monitors, 30-second checks, custom domain, 5,000 subscribers. Business: 1,000 monitors, SSO, 25,000 subscribers |
| Subscribers / domain | Domain starts on Pro. Subscriber caps jump by plan |
| Monitoring bundle | Yes β monitors are on the same card |
| Free plan / trial | Permanent Starter |
| Main limitation | Free looks finished until legal wants status.yourdomain.com |
- Launch on Free. Buy Pro the week you attach the domain.
- If you already have UptimeRobot checks, you may not need Instatus monitors.
- Business is the SSO row.
2. Atlassian Statuspage
THE B2B DEFAULT URL
Best for: B2B products whose customers bookmark a Statuspage and whose procurement already knows Atlassian.
| Published pricing | Free: 100 subscribers. Hobby $29/mo. Startup $99/mo. Business $399/mo. Enterprise quote. Yearly cards can require an order form |
| Subscribers / domain | Email/SMS subscriber caps are the upgrade trigger. Core incident features sit on all plans per Atlassianβs FAQ |
| Monitoring bundle | No. Pair with Pingdom, Datadog or UptimeRobot |
| Free plan / trial | Free with a 100-subscriber cap |
| Main limitation | Hobby $29 is not Business $399. Metrics, audience views and team size jump hard |
- Count status-email subscribers, not customers.
- SSO via Atlassian Guard is plan-gated β read the FAQ if Jira users are not on the Statuspage plan.
- Do not buy Statuspage to get uptime checks. You still need a monitor.
3. Better Stack
PAGE PLUS CHECKS
Best for: teams that want one vendor for βis it downβ and βtell customers.β
| Published pricing | Modular. Extra status pages and monitor packs add up |
| Subscribers / domain | Plan-gated. Model pages separately from monitors |
| Monitoring bundle | Yes β that is the pitch |
| Free plan / trial | Free tier |
| Main limitation | A second customer-facing page is not free air |
- If you only need a page and already ping elsewhere, Instatus or Statuspage is cleaner.
- If you have neither, Better Stack can replace two tools β after you build the cart.
- See the uptime comparison for the checker-side math.
4. UptimeRobot
PAGE INCLUDED WITH PINGS
Best for: teams already on UptimeRobot who will accept its page instead of a Statuspage invoice.
| Published pricing | Free includes 1 basic page. Solo 3 pages. Team 100. Scale unlimited |
| Subscribers / domain | Basic on Free. Confirm custom-domain rules on the plan you buy |
| Monitoring bundle | Yes β the page is an accessory to the checker |
| Free plan / trial | Permanent Free page |
| Main limitation | Not the page enterprises put in a procurement appendix next to Jira |
- Use it when the audience is small and technical.
- Move to Statuspage/Instatus when customers start asking for the branded URL.
- Do not run two public pages that disagree.

Frequently asked questions

For 100 subscribers. A consumer list will not fit.
Does Instatus replace Pingdom?
It includes monitors. Depth is not Pingdom transaction checks.
Did we test subscriber deliverability?
No. Send a scheduled-maintenance notice on a trial.
