TL;DR: UptimeRobot fits teams that want 50 monitors free at a 5-minute interval, then Solo around $12–$13/mo for 60-second checks. Better Stack fits teams that want uptime, logs and a status page in one bill and will read the modular price, not the “from $29” headline. Pingdom fits SolarWinds shops that will buy a published Pingdom plan. Checkly fits engineers who want API and browser checks as code.

Uptime monitoring is the checker that hits an URL or API on a schedule and alerts someone. A status page is a different product that often ships in the same invoice.

Every entry uses the same fields: published pricing, check interval, monitor cap, status-page posture and the main limitation. The order below is not a quality ranking. UptimeRobot Free first. Modular and quote-adjacent tools follow.

Uptime monitoring software compared at a glance

Provider Published pricing Free / entry interval Best for Link
UptimeRobot Free. Solo ~$13/mo or $12 annual. Team ~$46 / $39 annual. Scale ~$98 / $83 annual (2026 reads of uptimerobot.com/pricing) Free: 5 minutes, 50 monitors. Solo: 60 seconds Cheap HTTP checks and a basic status page Visit →
Better Stack Free tier plus paid modules on betterstack.com/pricing. Uptime, status pages and logs stack Plan-gated Uptime + incident page + logs in one vendor Visit →

UptimeRobot Solo/Team/Scale dollar bands were read from 2026 pricing coverage aligned to uptimerobot.com/pricing on 15 September 2026. Confirm the annual toggle; SMS/voice credits are extra packs.

One vendor prints 50 free monitors. The others sell interval, scripting or a platform bundle.

Interval is the product

A 5-minute check can miss a 4-minute outage. Solo’s 60-second interval is why people leave Free — not the logo. Count monitors and the interval you actually need before you compare $12 to Better Stack’s modules.

The four providers in detail

1. UptimeRobot

FREE 50 MONITORS, THEN INTERVAL

Best for: HTTP(S) checks on a public price with a basic status page and no contract.

Published pricing Free $0. Solo ~$13 monthly / ~$12 annual. Team ~$46 / ~$39. Scale ~$98 / ~$83. Enterprise quote. 14-day money-back on paid
Interval and caps Free: 50 monitors, 5-minute checks, 1 basic status page, 3 months retention. Solo: 10 monitors, 60-second checks, 3 status pages. Team: 100 monitors, 30-second. Scale: 200 monitors, 15-second
Status page Included at plan limits. Not Atlassian Statuspage
Free plan / trial Permanent Free. No card
Main limitation Solo has fewer monitors than Free (10 vs 50) because you are buying interval. SMS/voice is a credit pack
  • Stay on Free if 5 minutes is acceptable and you can live with a basic page.
  • Buy Solo for 60-second checks, not for more monitors.
  • Team is the first honest shared-seat row.

2. Better Stack

MODULAR UPTIME + PAGE + LOGS

Best for: teams that want the status page next to the checker and will add logs later.

Published pricing betterstack.com/pricing — free plus paid. Users, monitors and extra status pages stack. Do not budget the homepage “from”
Interval and caps Plan-gated. Model monitor count separately from seats
Status page First-class. Often the reason to leave UptimeRobot
Free plan / trial Free tier exists. Production pages usually leave it
Main limitation Module math. Three engineers + 100 monitors + two pages is not $29
  • Build the cart (uptime + pages + on-call) before you compare to UptimeRobot Team $39.
  • If you only need HTTP ping, UptimeRobot is the cheaper shape.
  • Logs are a different unit. Keep them off the first quote unless you need them.

3. Pingdom

SOLARWINDS PING

Best for: companies that already buy SolarWinds and want a known uptime brand on the vendor list.

Published pricing pingdom.com/pricing — named paid plans
Interval and caps Printed per plan. Transaction checks cost more than a simple ping
Status page Not the centre of gravity (see Statuspage separately)
Free plan / trial Trial
Main limitation You do not pick Pingdom to beat UptimeRobot Free on price
  • Use Pingdom when procurement already has SolarWinds paper.
  • Price transaction (scripted) checks separately from uptime pings.
  • Page-speed features are not a substitute for RUM.

4. Checkly

MONITORING AS CODE

Best for: engineering teams that want API and Playwright-style browser checks in CI, not only a 5-minute ping.

Published pricing checklyhq.com/pricing — usage and seats
Interval and caps Check runs are the unit. Browser checks cost more than API checks
Status page Not Atlassian. Pair with Instatus/Statuspage if you need a customer page
Free plan / trial Allowances on the live page
Main limitation Overkill if you only need “is homepage 200”
  • Write two API checks and one browser check. That is the pilot.
  • Do not replace UptimeRobot with Checkly unless someone will own the scripts.
  • Alert routing into PagerDuty/Opsgenie is part of the design, not an afterthought.

Kurums Match: which one fits your situation

We need cheap pings and can live with 5 minutes

UptimeRobot Free.

We need 60-second checks on a few URLs

UptimeRobot Solo. Accept the 10-monitor cap.

We want the public status page in the same product

Better Stack, or UptimeRobot plus a dedicated status-page tool.

Checks must live in Git

Checkly.

Buying tip: list URLs, required interval, and whether customers see a page. Those three fields pick the vendor.

How this comparison was put together

Vendor pricing pages and 2026 UptimeRobot plan reads, 15 September 2026. No paid placement. Kurums did not measure detection time in a controlled outage.

Order is printed $0 first. No badge reflects a commercial relationship.
