Buyer's guide Β· Finance
We compared six cash flow forecasting tools on published pricing, trial terms, forecast horizon, data sources, scenario modeling and the main limitation a buyer should check before signing.
- Very small business on a tight budget: Pulse β Plans start at $29 per month with a 30-day free trial, and scenarios work by toggling entries on and off.
- Small business on QuickBooks, Xero or Zoho: Cash Flow Frog β Revenue-based pricing starts at a $55 per month list price for companies up to $1M revenue, with forecasts up to 36 months.
- Growing company on Xero or QuickBooks Online: Float β Unlimited users on every plan, a 13-week view plus monthly forecasts, and a 14-day trial with no card.
- Mid-market group needing bank-level cash data: Trovata β A published Base Package of $24k per year includes machine-learning forecasts trained on bank data and 10 users.
- Enterprise treasury team: Kyriba β AI-assisted forecasting sits inside a full liquidity platform that cites connectivity to 10,000 banks.
Cash flow forecasting software projects how much cash a business will have on future dates by combining bank balances, accounting data, open invoices, bills and planned spending. It replaces the spreadsheet that someone in finance rebuilds every Monday, and it makes the questions behind that spreadsheet faster to answer: can we make payroll in week eight, what happens if our largest customer pays 30 days late, and how much runway does a new hire cost us? Buyers range from owner-managed businesses that want a simple weekly view, to finance teams producing a 13-week cash forecast for a lender, to corporate treasury teams consolidating dozens of bank accounts and entities. The category therefore spans low-cost web apps, accounting add-ons and enterprise treasury platforms.
We compared each product on the same six fields: published pricing, free plan or trial, forecast horizon and granularity, data sources and integrations, scenario and planning features, and the main limitation. Products are listed in practical buyer order, from self-serve tools with published prices to quote-led enterprise platforms. The order is not a quality ranking. We checked every price, plan and trial on the vendor's official pricing or product page on 12 October 2026. Where a vendor does not publish a price, we say Quote-based rather than repeat third-party estimates. Confirm current terms with the vendor before you buy.

The 6 options in detail
Pulse
Best for very small businesses and freelancersBest for: Owner-managed businesses and agencies that want a simple, low-cost cash flow view without accounting-system complexity.
| Attribute | Pulse |
|---|---|
| Published pricing | Basics $29/month, Small Business $59/month, Premium $89/month (USD) |
| Free plan or trial | 30-day free trial for brand-new accounts; card charged after the trial unless cancelled |
| Forecast horizon and views | Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly cash flow views with recurring income and expenses |
| Data sources and integrations | QuickBooks Online integration on Small Business and Premium; multiple financial accounts from Small Business |
| Scenario and planning features | Toggle entries and accounts on or off to test scenarios; reports by customer and project |
| Main limitation | Lighter tool: one accounting integration listed, and no direct bank feed described on the official pages |
- Published pricing with three clear tiers and no long-term contract beyond the terms of service.
- Premium adds unlimited financial accounts, currency conversion for reporting and attachments on cash flow entries.
- QuickBooks Online is the only accounting integration named on the official site, so Xero or ERP users will be entering more data by hand.
Our take: Pulse is a straightforward web app for business owners who think in terms of money in and money out rather than accounting entries. You add expected income and expenses, mark them as recurring, and view cash by day, week, month or year. Scenario testing is simple: switch a planned hire or a large contract off and watch the projected balance change. The Small Business plan at $59 per month is the one most teams will need, because it adds multiple accounts, invited access for a bookkeeper or investor, QuickBooks Online sync and actual-versus-projected tracking. In a trial, check how much manual entry your business really needs each week and whether QuickBooks sync covers your invoices and bills. Compared with Cash Flow Frog and Float, Pulse is less automated and lighter on integrations, but it is also the cheapest entry point on this page and the easiest to understand without finance training. It is not designed for multi-entity groups or bank-level treasury work.
Cash Flow Frog
Best for small businesses on varied ledgersBest for: Small businesses using QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho Books, FreshBooks or Odoo that want automated forecasts priced by revenue.
| Attribute | Cash Flow Frog |
|---|---|
| Published pricing | Revenue-based tiers in USD; Pro tier up to $1M revenue lists at $55/month, with an early-bird discount shown at time of check |
| Free plan or trial | Free start with no card required (trial length not stated); 30-day money-back guarantee |
| Forecast horizon and views | Forecasts up to 36 months on the Pro tier |
| Data sources and integrations | QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Xero, Zoho Books, FreshBooks, Odoo, Sage Intacct, Plaid and Excel |
| Scenario and planning features | Scenario planning included; up to 10 users on the Pro tier |
| Main limitation | Price rises with annual revenue, and details for higher tiers are shown only through the pricing slider |
- Monthly, yearly and two-year billing, with listed discounts of 20% for yearly and 35% for two-year terms.
- Broad small-business integration list, including Plaid bank connections and QuickBooks Desktop.
- Because pricing scales with revenue, a fast-growing company can move into a higher tier, so model next year's revenue when you compare costs.
Our take: Cash Flow Frog connects to your accounting system and, optionally, to bank data through Plaid, then builds a forecast from invoices, bills and historical patterns. Its pricing model is unusual for this category: you choose your annual revenue on a slider and the price follows, so a company under $1M revenue sees a $55 per month list price on the Pro tier, while larger companies pay more. Annual and two-year terms cut that further, and the vendor offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. The integration list is the broadest among the low-cost tools here, which matters if you run Zoho Books, FreshBooks or QuickBooks Desktop. In a trial, connect your real ledger and check how the tool treats overdue receivables and irregular expenses, since that drives forecast quality. Compared with Float, Cash Flow Frog covers more accounting platforms and lists a lower entry price for small companies; Float offers unlimited users and a more structured 13-week view for finance teams.
Float
Best for Xero and QBO finance teamsBest for: Growing companies and their advisors who use Xero or QuickBooks Online and want a 13-week cash view plus longer monthly forecasts.
| Attribute | Float |
|---|---|
| Published pricing | Essentials $130/month or $105/month annually; Growth $265 or $215; Scale $389 or $315 (USD, also priced in GBP, EUR, AUD; excl. VAT) |
| Free plan or trial | 14-day free trial with no credit card on Essentials and Growth; Scale is sold via demo |
| Forecast horizon and views | 13-week cash flow on all plans; 12-month forecasts on Essentials, 36-month on Growth and Scale |
| Data sources and integrations | Xero and QuickBooks Online; bank data comes through the accounting platform, synced every 24 hours |
| Scenario and planning features | 8 scenarios per plan, what-if modeling and hiring plans; multi-entity consolidation on Scale |
| Main limitation | No direct bank feeds, and Sage Intacct and iplicit integrations were listed as coming soon |
- Unlimited users on every plan, so owners, advisors and department heads can all view the forecast.
- Plan eligibility is tied to revenue: Essentials for companies under GBP 2m revenue, Growth above that.
- Float relies on Xero or QuickBooks Online for transaction data, so companies on other ledgers or ERPs cannot use it yet.
Our take: Float is built for companies that already keep clean books in Xero or QuickBooks Online and want forecasting that finance and non-finance people can read. It combines a 13-week rolling view for short-term cash management with monthly forecasts of up to three years on Growth and Scale, and its Intelligent Suggestions feature flags recurring costs from transaction history. Scenarios let you switch income and costs on or off and price new hires before you commit. Pricing is published in four currencies, and the 20% annual discount brings Essentials to $105 per month. Float says more than 8,000 finance teams use it. In a trial, check how your accounting categories map into forecast lines and how well the 24-hour sync suits your cash cycle. Compared with Cash Flow Frog, Float is more focused on finance-team workflows and multi-entity consolidation; compared with Agicap, it is narrower but has transparent pricing and no annual commitment on monthly plans.
Agicap
Best for European SMBs and mid-market groupsBest for: SMBs and mid-market companies, especially in Europe, that want forecasting combined with direct bank connections and AP and AR tools.
| Attribute | Agicap |
|---|---|
| Published pricing | Quote-based; annual offer with a 12-month minimum subscription; multi-company pricing on request |
| Free plan or trial | No free plan; short test period and guided walkthrough with an expert before committing |
| Forecast horizon and views | Short-term cash positioning, a 13-week forecast and a long-term cash plan |
| Data sources and integrations | Real-time bank sync via Open Banking with 300+ UK, Irish and international banks; 150+ accounting and finance tools |
| Scenario and planning features | Scenario comparison across short, 13-week and long-term views; AP invoice processing and AR follow-ups |
| Main limitation | No published prices, and the annual minimum term limits month-to-month flexibility |
- Direct bank connections rather than relying only on the accounting ledger for cash data.
- Reports more than 8,000 clients across 12 countries, with SMB and mid-market focus.
- You need a sales conversation to get a price, and the 12-month minimum means you are committed for a year once you sign.
Our take: Agicap combines cash forecasting with cash collection and supplier payment tools, so it suits finance teams that want one place to see bank balances, forecast cash and act on receivables and payables. It connects directly to banks through Open Banking and to more than 150 accounting and finance tools, which helps groups with several bank relationships or entities. Forecasting covers daily cash positioning, a 13-week view built on actuals, and a long-term plan, with scenarios you can compare across all three. The trade-off is commercial: Agicap does not publish prices, sells on an annual basis with a 12-month minimum, and quotes multi-company setups separately. In the guided test period, connect your main banks, check categorization accuracy on a month of real transactions, and ask how pricing changes when you add entities or AP and AR modules. Compared with Float, Agicap offers more connectivity and workflow; compared with Trovata and Kyriba, it is aimed at smaller finance teams.
Trovata
Best for bank-data-driven mid-market treasuryBest for: Mid-market and upper-mid-market finance teams that want automated bank connectivity, cash positioning and machine-learning forecasts.
| Attribute | Trovata |
|---|---|
| Published pricing | Base Package $24k/year (1 bank, 100 accounts, 1M transactions, 10 users); extra capacity and TMS quoted |
| Free plan or trial | No free plan or trial listed; demo booking |
| Forecast horizon and views | Machine-learning forecast models trained on historical bank data, plus daily cash positioning |
| Data sources and integrations | Bank connectivity via API, SWIFT or sFTP (BAI2, MT940), managed by Trovata; NetSuite SuiteApp and FloQast |
| Scenario and planning features | Trovata AI for natural-language cash questions; payments, reconciliation, investments and entity management |
| Main limitation | Base Package covers only one bank connection, so multi-bank groups will need a larger quote |
- One of the few treasury-grade tools in this category with a published starting price.
- Includes 3 to 5 hours of live training and unlimited in-app support; multi-year contracts are discounted.
- The $24k entry price covers one bank, so companies with several banking relationships should budget for a quote above the base package.
Our take: Trovata starts from the bank rather than the ledger. It manages connections to your banks over API, SWIFT or sFTP files, normalizes the transactions, and uses that history to train machine-learning forecast models. That approach suits companies with significant cash spread across accounts, where the main problem is visibility and the forecast should reflect actual bank flows. The Base Package is published at $24k per year and includes balances, cash positioning, reconciliation, payments over RTP, ACH and wires, Trovata AI and a developer API. A full Trovata TMS, with hedging, intercompany and in-house banking, is quoted separately. In a demo, ask how long connectivity takes for each of your banks, how forecast categories are tagged, and what a second or third bank adds to cost. Compared with Agicap, Trovata is more treasury-oriented and US-centric; compared with Kyriba, it has a published entry point and a lighter implementation.
Kyriba
Best for enterprise treasury and liquidity teamsBest for: Large and multinational companies that need forecasting inside a full treasury, payments and risk platform.
| Attribute | Kyriba |
|---|---|
| Published pricing | Quote-based; no pricing published, demo request required |
| Free plan or trial | No free plan or trial listed |
| Forecast horizon and views | Short, medium and long-term horizons with rolling forecast cycles and automated variance analysis |
| Data sources and integrations | Connectivity to 10,000 banks plus ERPs, portals and open APIs; ERP ledgers and bank statements feed forecasts |
| Scenario and planning features | Multiple what-if scenarios and liquidity stress tests; links forecasts to debt, investments and FX risk |
| Main limitation | Enterprise implementation effort and cost; more platform than a small finance team needs |
- Forecasting sits beside payments, FX and interest-rate risk, and hedge accounting in one platform.
- Kyriba says more than 4,000 organizations use its platform, and it is ISO 27001 and SOC 1 and SOC 2 certified.
- Kyriba is a full treasury system, so implementation, integration and licensing are sized for enterprise budgets and timelines.
Our take: Kyriba is a liquidity platform rather than a stand-alone forecasting app. Forecasts draw on ERP ledgers, bank statements and daily cash positions, and the platform applies machine-learning models, rolling forecast cycles and automated variance analysis that compares actuals with each forecast version. Scenario tools let treasury teams stress-test liquidity against delayed receivables, payment timing changes or market moves, and link the results to debt, investments and FX exposure. That breadth is the reason to choose it and also the reason it does not fit small companies. Pricing is not published. In a demo, ask for a forecast built on your own ERP extract, the expected implementation timeline, which bank connections are standard, and how forecast accuracy is measured. Compared with Trovata, Kyriba covers more treasury functions and more banks out of the box; compared with Float or Cash Flow Frog, it solves a different problem for a different buyer.
How to choose cash flow forecasting software
Start with your data source
Forecasts are only as good as the data behind them. Ledger-based tools such as Float and Cash Flow Frog read invoices, bills and bank transactions through your accounting system, so they work well when the books are reconciled weekly. Bank-first tools such as Trovata and Kyriba pull balances and transactions directly from banks, which suits companies with many accounts or slow month-end closes. Agicap combines both. Before you shortlist, write down where your most reliable cash data lives today and how often it is updated, then choose a product that reads from that source automatically rather than through manual exports.
Match the horizon to the decision
A 13-week forecast is the standard for short-term liquidity management and lender reporting, while 12 to 36-month forecasts support budgeting, hiring and fundraising. Check whether the tool can show both views from one model, or whether you would maintain two. Granularity matters too: daily views help companies close to an overdraft limit, while monthly views are enough for stable businesses. Float limits the monthly horizon to 12 months on Essentials and 36 on Growth, and Cash Flow Frog lists up to 36 months on its Pro tier, so confirm the horizon on the plan you can afford.
Test scenarios with a real question
Every product on this page offers some form of scenario planning, but the depth varies from toggling individual entries on and off to full liquidity stress tests. In a trial, model a question you actually face, such as a delayed customer payment, a new loan or two new hires, and see how many steps it takes and whether you can compare scenarios side by side. Check the scenario limit as well: Float includes eight per plan. If board or lender reporting is a goal, confirm that scenarios can be exported or shared in a clear format.
Count entities, banks and users
Pricing often changes with structure rather than features. Float charges more for multi-entity consolidation on Scale, Trovata's base package covers one bank and ten users, and Agicap quotes multi-company setups separately. Cash Flow Frog prices by revenue and limits its Pro tier to ten users, while Pulse and Float allow wider team access. List your legal entities, bank relationships, currencies and the people who need access before requesting quotes, so you compare like with like and avoid an upgrade shortly after signing.
Plan the rollout and ownership
Someone has to own the forecast. Light tools can be live in an afternoon, while treasury platforms involve bank connectivity projects, ERP mapping and training. Ask each vendor what onboarding is included: Float includes onboarding on Growth and Scale and sells it for a one-off fee on Essentials, and Trovata includes several hours of live training. Agree on who reviews forecast variances each week, because accuracy improves only when someone compares the forecast with actual cash and adjusts assumptions. A tool nobody maintains will drift from reality within a month.
How cash flow forecasting software pricing works
Small-business tools usually charge a flat monthly subscription. Pulse publishes three tiers from $29 to $89 per month, and Float publishes four-currency pricing from $130 per month, or $105 per month when billed annually. Cash Flow Frog prices by company revenue instead of seats, which keeps entry cost low for small businesses but rises as revenue grows. Annual billing typically saves around 20%, and Cash Flow Frog also offers a two-year term. Watch for limits that trigger upgrades, such as forecast horizon, user count, number of scenarios or number of connected accounts.
Mid-market and treasury tools move to annual contracts priced on bank connections, accounts, entities, transaction volume and modules. Trovata is unusual in publishing a $24k per year base package that includes one bank, 100 accounts and ten users, with additional capacity quoted. Agicap sells annual subscriptions with a 12-month minimum and does not publish prices. Kyriba is fully quote-based and usually involves an implementation project. For these products, ask for a written quote that separates license, implementation, bank connectivity and support, and ask how the price changes at renewal and when you add entities.
Total cost also includes internal time. A cheap tool that needs hours of manual entry each week can cost more than a pricier one with reliable integrations. Compare the subscription with the time your team currently spends rebuilding spreadsheets, and include onboarding fees, such as Float's optional one-off onboarding on Essentials, in the first-year budget. Finally, check cancellation terms, because monthly plans can be stopped quickly while annual contracts usually cannot.

Buying tip
Before any demo, export the last 13 weeks of actual bank movements and ask each vendor to forecast the following four weeks from that data. Comparing their output with what actually happened shows forecast quality better than any feature list. This guide is informational, not financial advice.
Cash Flow Forecasting Software: frequently asked questions
What is cash flow forecasting software?
It is software that projects your future cash balance by combining current bank balances with expected receipts and payments from invoices, bills, payroll and planned spending. Most tools connect to an accounting system or directly to banks, update automatically, and let you test what-if scenarios. The goal is to see shortfalls or surpluses weeks or months in advance, so you can arrange financing, chase receivables or delay spending before cash becomes a problem.
What is a 13-week cash flow forecast?
A 13-week cash flow forecast projects cash week by week for one quarter. It is the standard short-term liquidity view used by finance teams, lenders and restructuring advisors because it is long enough to show upcoming pressure and short enough to stay accurate. Float includes a 13-week view on all plans, Agicap builds a 13-week forecast on actuals, and enterprise platforms such as Kyriba support rolling short-term forecasts alongside longer horizons.
Can I forecast cash flow in Excel instead?
Yes, and many companies start there. Spreadsheets become hard to maintain when you have several bank accounts, frequent transactions or more than one person editing the model. Dedicated software pulls actuals automatically, keeps scenarios separate and shows variance between forecast and actual. If you spend more than a few hours a week updating a spreadsheet, the subscription cost of a tool such as Pulse or Float is often lower than the time saved.
How much does cash flow forecasting software cost?
Published small-business prices on this page start at $29 per month for Pulse Basics, around $55 per month list for Cash Flow Frog's Pro tier, and $105 per month billed annually for Float Essentials. Trovata publishes a $24k per year base package. Agicap and Kyriba are quote-based. Prices checked on 12 October 2026; confirm current pricing on each vendor's official page before you buy.
Does cash flow forecasting software connect directly to my bank?
It depends on the product. Float reads bank transactions through Xero or QuickBooks Online rather than connecting to banks directly. Cash Flow Frog offers Plaid bank connections alongside accounting integrations. Agicap connects directly to more than 300 banks through Open Banking. Trovata and Kyriba manage direct bank connectivity over API, SWIFT or file formats, which suits companies with many accounts or international banks.
Is a cash flow forecast the same as financial advice?
No. A forecast is a planning tool built on your own data and assumptions, and its accuracy depends on how well those assumptions reflect reality. Software can highlight risks and model options, but it does not recommend financing decisions for your specific situation. This article is informational and is not financial advice; for decisions about borrowing, investing or restructuring, speak with a qualified adviser who knows your business.
