Best AI Document Processing Software in 2026: Pricing & Comparison

We compared five document-processing vendors on published pricing, free limits, billing unit, and the main workflow tradeoff.

By Kurums EditorialPricing checked 7 Oct 2026Updated 7 Oct 2026How we make money
TL;DR

  • Low-volume email and PDF extraction: Parseur β€” free tier up to 20 pages a month, then published page packs.
  • Invoice and receipt APIs: Veryfi β€” free up to 100 documents a month, then a per-document rate.
  • Workflow builders who pay per step: Nanonets β€” $50 in starter credits and published block rates.
  • Template parsing with a small credit bucket: Docparser β€” Starter from $32.50 a month on annual billing.
  • Developer OCR APIs at higher volume: Mindee β€” Starter is $53 a month or $636 a year.

AI document processing software extracts fields from PDFs, scans, emails, and images and sends structured data to a sheet, webhook, or system of record. This comparison covers intelligent document processing and parsing tools. It is not accounts-payable automation, expense cards, or a general accounting suite.

Each company is scored on the same fields: published pricing, free plan or trial, billing unit, core focus, and the main limitation. The order is not a quality ranking. Providers are sorted with public $0 plans and the lowest published entry first, and quote-led plans last. On 7 October 2026 every vendor here still published at least a unit rate or a starter subscription.

Pricing checked 7 October 2026 on each vendor’s official pricing page. Figures are public list prices in USD. Mindee Starter was $53 a month or $636 a year. Confirm before you buy.

Quote-led enterprise tiers sit inside otherwise published products; they did not change sort order.

What buyers are actually choosing between

The split in this category is billing unit, not brand. Page-priced tools punish long PDFs. Document-priced tools (Veryfi, Docparser) can be cheaper on multi-page invoices and more expensive on single-page email. Block-priced tools (Nanonets) look cheap per step and add up when a workflow runs four to six blocks. Free tiers here are real monthly allowances, not a 7-day demo, except Nanonets, which starts with a $50 credit grant rather than an ongoing free plan.

The 5 companies in detail

1

Parseur

Best for low-volume extraction

Best for: teams that want a free monthly allowance and a published page price before they talk to sales.

Attribute Parseur
Published pricing Free up to 20 pages/month. Micro $49/month or $468/year for 100 pages. Starter $129/month or $1,188/year for 1,000 pages. Enterprise by quote.
Free plan or trial Ongoing free tier, up to 20 pages a month. No card required to start.
Core focus AI and template parsing for email, PDF, and spreadsheets, with export to sheets and automation tools.
Main limitation Advanced post-processing and multi-user accounts start on Scale plans (10,000 credits a month and up). Free retention is 90 days.
  • Official pricing page lists Excel, CSV, JSON, Google Sheets, Zapier, Power Automate, Make, webhooks, and API on every tier, including free.
  • One credit is one page. Emails and spreadsheets count as one page; a three-page PDF costs three credits.
  • Unused credits expire at the end of the billing period, and the free plan is limited to one user.
2

Veryfi

Best for invoice and receipt APIs

Best for: product teams that need a document API and can stay under 100 documents a month while testing.

Attribute Veryfi
Published pricing Free up to 100 documents/month. Starter lists invoices at $0.16, receipts at $0.08, bank checks and statements at $0.25. Growth is volume-discount, contact sales. Calculator shows a $500 monthly example.
Free plan or trial Free plan, up to 100 documents a month, with limited storage and email support.
Core focus OCR and multi-modal extraction APIs for invoices, receipts, forms, and related documents.
Main limitation A transaction is one document of up to 15 pages. Longer files need a custom account. Lens capture and many add-ons are contact-only.
  • Veryfi charges per document, not per page, which matters on multi-page invoices.
  • The pricing page says the company is SOC 2 Type 2 and cites HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA compliance.
  • β€œ100+ other docs” and the camera SDK are contact-us on the same page that publishes invoice rates.
3

Nanonets

Best for multi-step workflows

Best for: ops teams that want to price a workflow by step instead of buying a seat license.

Attribute Nanonets
Published pricing Start free with $50 in credits. Simple blocks $0.02/run, standard AI $0.10/run, complex AI (extraction) $0.30/run. Growth and Enterprise are quote-based.
Free plan or trial $50 starter credits, not an ongoing free monthly plan. Credits do not expire, per the pricing FAQ.
Core focus Document workflows: extraction, classification, routing, and export.
Main limitation A typical invoice workflow is 4–6 blocks, so the headline block rate is not the document cost. Volume discounts sit on quote-led plans.
  • The pricing page says there is no platform fee and no seat license on the usage model.
  • SSO, HIPAA, SOC 2, and private-cloud deployment are listed on Enterprise, not on the credit model.
  • Growth, which includes the volume discount of up to 40%, requires a sales conversation.
4

Docparser

Best for template parsing

Best for: operators with a small set of recurring document layouts who want a published annual credit plan.

Attribute Docparser
Published pricing Starter $39/month (100 credits) or $32.50/month billed annually (1,200 credits/year). Professional $74 or $61.50. Business $159 or $133. Enterprise contact.
Free plan or trial No ongoing free plan on the pricing page. Demo scheduling is offered.
Core focus Rule and template parsing of PDF, Word, and images, with sheet and integration export.
Main limitation Multi-layout parsers, version control, and MFA are paid add-ons on lower tiers. One credit covers a document of up to five pages.
  • Starter includes up to 15 parsers and Google Sheets export; Professional adds teams and smart tables.
  • Parsing Assistant is $149 per layout and is not included on any plan.
  • Annual Business is 12,000 credits a year, so a team parsing 1,000 documents a month is already on the top published tier or a quote.
5

Mindee

Best for OCR APIs

Best for: developers who want a page-priced API with confidence scores and a published starter allowance.

Attribute Mindee
Published pricing Starter is $53/month or $636/year. Enterprise is custom. The previous 44/month and 529/year cards were not on the page. Credit volume for Starter was not confirmed in the plan text checked.
Free plan or trial Pricing page offers β€œTry for free now.” No ongoing free allowance was listed next to the paid tiers.
Core focus OCR API with models, polygons, confidence scores, and chaining utilities.
Main limitation Confidence scores cost 1.5 credits per page. Overage is billed at the plan rate plus 20%. Credits do not roll over.
  • Starter is one full seat; Pro lists unlimited seats and live chat support.
  • The FAQ says additional credits start from $0.05 and that Starter and Pro allowances range from 500 to 10,000 credits.
  • Data-processing localization and custom SLAs are not on Starter. Enterprise is quote-only.

Kurums Match

I parse a few dozen emails a monthWant a free start
Start with Parseur. The free tier covers up to 20 pages a month, and Micro is a published $49 monthly pack if you outgrow it.

I am shipping an invoice APIPer document, not per seat

Veryfi publishes $0.16 per invoice and $0.08 per receipt after a 100-document free plan. Check the 15-page transaction cap.

My workflow has routing and export stepsCost per block

Nanonets prices simple, standard, and extraction blocks separately. Model a 4–6 block invoice before you compare it with a page price.

I have repeating layouts and a small teamAnnual credits

Docparser Starter is $32.50 a month on annual billing for 1,200 credits a year. Teams start on Professional.

I want an API and confidence scoresDeveloper-first

Mindee lists Starter at $53 a month or $636 a year. Budget the credit rule on the pricing FAQ before you turn confidence scores on.

Buying tip

Price 100 of your real files, not the homepage example. A five-page PDF is five Parseur or Mindee credits and one Docparser or Veryfi document. That single rule flips the ranking on cost.

How this comparison was put together

FAQ

Is AI document processing the same as accounts-payable software?
No. These tools extract fields and hand them off. Accounts-payable suites add approval, coding, and payment. Use an AP comparison if the job is to pay bills, not only to parse them.

Which tool has a real free plan?

Parseur lists an ongoing free tier up to 20 pages a month. Veryfi lists a free plan up to 100 documents a month. Nanonets starts with $50 in credits. Docparser and Mindee did not list an ongoing free allowance on the pages checked.

Why is Mindee’s currency noted separately?

On 7 October 2026 the Mindee Starter card showed $53 a month and $636 a year. The FAQ on the same page cites additional credits from $0.05. Confirm the currency on the live page before budgeting.

Do unused credits roll over?

Parseur, Docparser, and Mindee say unused subscription credits expire at the end of the period. Nanonets says prepaid credits never expire. Veryfi’s free plan is a monthly cap, not a credit bank.

Can I stay off a sales call?

Parseur, Veryfi’s free and published document rates, Docparser’s Starter through Business, Mindee Starter and Pro, and Nanonets block rates are self-serve or publicly listed. Growth, Enterprise, and custom volume discounts are quote-led.
