ROAS Calculator

Return on ad spend tells you how much revenue your advertising brought back for each unit of currency it cost. This ROAS calculator is for marketers, founders and finance leads who need a quick, clean number for a channel review, a budget request or a monthly performance check.

Your entries stay in this browser. Use Fill example to see a finished page first.

What this marketing tool gives you

The result shows ROAS as a plain ratio, such as 4, alongside the revenue and spend you entered, formatted in USD, EUR or GBP. Put it on a slide next to the campaign name. Nothing you type is sent anywhere; the figures live in your browser and there is no sign-up.

What you enter

  • Ad spend for the period, in USD, EUR or GBP
  • Attributed revenue for the same period and campaign, in the same currency

Worked example

With the tool's example values, ad spend is $2,500 and attributed revenue is $10,000. ROAS = 10,000 ÷ 2,500 = 4. In a review you would say the campaign returned $4 in attributed revenue for every $1 of ad spend.

How is ROAS calculated?

ROAS = attributed revenue ÷ ad spend, rounded to two decimals. A ROAS of 4 means four units of attributed revenue for every unit spent. The result is a ratio, not a percent.

Both numbers must be zero or more. If ad spend is zero, the tool does not return a value, because there is nothing to divide by. The calculation uses exactly the revenue you attribute; it does not apply an attribution model or subtract costs.

Tips before you use the result

  1. Use the same date range and the same attribution window for spend and revenue, or the ratio means nothing.
  2. ROAS is based on revenue, not profit. Compare it against your gross margin: at a 25% margin, a ROAS of 4 only covers the ad cost.
  3. Calculate ROAS per campaign or channel before you look at the blended figure, so a strong channel does not hide a weak one.
  4. Write down which platform or model produced the attributed revenue so next month's number is comparable.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good ROAS?

It depends on your margins. A business with high gross margin can profit at a lower ROAS than one with thin margins. Compare the ratio with your gross margin and the other costs of each sale before calling it good. This calculator gives you the ratio; you decide whether it clears your own threshold. Track it over time as well.

Is ROAS the same as ROI?

No. ROAS divides attributed revenue by ad spend only. ROI usually looks at profit relative to the full cost of an investment. This tool calculates ROAS as revenue ÷ spend and does not subtract product costs, agency fees or salaries.

Why is ROAS shown as a number and not a percent?

The tool reports ROAS as a ratio rounded to two decimals, such as 4 or 3.25. To convert it to a percent, multiply by 100, so a ratio of 4 equals 400%. Using the ratio avoids confusion between percent ROAS and ROI percentages.

What happens if my ad spend is zero?

The calculator shows a warning instead of a result, because ROAS has no divisor when spend is zero. This usually means the period or the campaign filter is wrong. Negative numbers are also rejected for both spend and revenue. Check the date filters in your ad platform first.
