Best Route Optimization Software in 2026: Pricing & Comparison

We compared four route-planning vendors on published price, billing unit, driver or task limits, and proof of delivery.

By Kurums EditorialPricing checked 9 Oct 2026Updated 9 Oct 2026How we make money
TL;DR

  • Variable weekly volume: Routific — free to 100 orders, then a flat $150 to 1,000.
  • Stable driver count: OptimoRoute — $35.10 per driver/month on annual Lite.
  • Small teams with a stop cap: Upper — Starter $40 per user/month yearly.
  • Completed-task dispatch: Onfleet — Launch from $619/month for 2,500 tasks.

Route optimization software builds delivery or service stops into driver sequences. This guide covers last-mile planning tools with a public price, not warehouse WMS or full TMS suites.

Every vendor is scored on the same fields: published pricing, free plan or trial, core focus, and main limitation. Order is not a quality ranking. Sort rule: public $0 or the lowest published starting price first, quote-led plans last.

How route software is priced

Vendors split into three models: per order (Routific), per driver or user (OptimoRoute and Upper), and per completed task with a monthly floor (Onfleet). A five-driver team doing 800 orders a month is not the same buyer as a courier doing 3,000 completed tasks. Match the meter to the thing that actually grows.

The 4 companies in detail

1

Routific

Fit for variable order volume

Best for: delivery teams whose stop count swings week to week and who do not want to pay for idle driver seats.

Attribute Routific
Published pricing Free up to 100 orders/month. 101–1,000 orders: $150/month. Above 1,000: per-order add-ons from $0.15 down to $0.03.
Free plan or trial Free tier up to 100 orders/month. All features except SMS, which is a quoted add-on.
Core focus Order-based route optimization with unlimited drivers and dispatchers, GPS tracking, email notifications, and proof of delivery.
Main limitation SMS notifications are not in the published plan price.
  • Unlimited drivers on every tier, so seasonal fleets do not buy empty seats.
  • An order is counted once when scheduled, and re-optimization does not recount it.
  • Volume above 50,000 orders/month moves to a sales conversation.

OptimoRoute

Best for: last-mile teams that bill by completed tasks rather than seats.

Attribute Onfleet
Published pricing Launch starting at $619/month for 2,500 tasks. Scale starting at $1,349/month for 5,000 tasks. Enterprise starting at $3,099/month for 10,000+ tasks. Courier Suite add-on from $299/month.
Free plan or trial Launch and Scale offer a try-free path. No ongoing free plan published.
Core focus Dispatch, driver app, photo and signature proof, and basic route optimization on Launch.
Main limitation Tasks count only when completed, and SMS or voice is billed separately.

  • Scale adds barcode and ID scanning, auto-dispatch, and advanced route optimization.
  • Entry price is a platform floor, so low-volume fleets can overpay versus per-driver tools.

My order count swings every weekDo not buy idle seats
Start with Routific. The first 100 orders are free and 101–1,000 orders are a flat $150, with unlimited drivers.

I have a stable driver rosterPer-driver math

OptimoRoute publishes Lite at $35.10 per driver per month on annual billing, with a 30-day trial.

I need proof of delivery under 500 stopsSmall team

Upper Professional is $48 per user per month yearly and includes proof of delivery and live GPS. Starter caps a route at 250 stops.

I dispatch thousands of completed tasksPlatform floor

Onfleet Launch starts at $619 per month and includes 2,500 completed delivery or pickup tasks.

Buying tip

Ask whether the meter is scheduled orders, drivers, or completed tasks. A free driver seat is not free if SMS and live tracking are add-ons.

FAQ

Is route optimization the same as a delivery app?
No. These tools plan stop order and, on higher tiers, track drivers. A driver app alone does not resequence a day of stops.

Which plan includes proof of delivery?

Routific includes proof of delivery on the published plan. OptimoRoute lists it on Pro. Upper lists it on Professional. Onfleet lists photo and signature proof on Launch.

Do I pay for drivers who do not work every day?

Routific and Onfleet do not price per driver. OptimoRoute and Upper do, so idle seats still cost money.

Are these prices annual?

OptimoRoute’s card prices are annual. Upper shows a yearly discount against a higher monthly rate. Routific and Onfleet publish monthly figures.
