How this ranking works. Sponsored listings are paid placements ordered by daily bid; the price shown next to each position is what it takes to sit above it today. Ties keep the earlier bid on top; locked positions keep their number. This is not an editorial ranking — Kurums Trust badges are earned separately, are never for sale, and are never affected by what a company pays here. Free listings below the sponsored block are compiled by our editors from public information and shown A–Z: no company paid to appear there, and inclusion is not a recommendation. Click counts are public and all-time. Full rules.

What does a full-time MBA actually buy?

A full-time MBA is a residential general-management degree taken away from work, usually between the ages of 26 and 31. The teaching — finance, accounting, marketing, operations, strategy, organisational behaviour — is broadly similar across good schools and can now be learned elsewhere for a fraction of the price. What the full-time format buys that nothing else does is the recruiting pipeline: structured on-campus hiring by consulting firms, banks, technology companies and rotational leadership programmes, plus a summer internship that functions as a paid, low-risk career trial.

That is why the format remains the standard route for career changers, and why it is a weaker choice for people who want to stay in their industry and employer — for whom an executive or online programme delivers most of the benefit at far lower cost.

There are hybrids: LBS runs 15–21 months with flexible exit, HEC Paris 16 months, IESE 15 or 19, and NUS 17. The internship is the deciding factor — if you need to test a new sector before committing, choose a format that includes one.

How much does a full-time MBA cost in 2026?

Schools publish employment reports with median starting salaries and signing bonuses; read them alongside the percentage of the class that reported and the industry mix, which differ enormously between schools. Loans without a US co-signer exist for international students at most top programmes, and several schools guarantee them.

How admissions work

Applications run in two to four rounds between September and April for the following autumn intake. A complete file has a GMAT or GRE score (still expected at full-time programmes, unlike online and executive ones), transcripts, two or three essays, one or two references, a CV and — after a first screen — an interview. Round one and two applicants are treated equally at most schools; round three is materially harder because the class is largely filled.

Work backwards from the job. Before comparing schools, look at where the people doing the job you want after the MBA actually studied — LinkedIn makes this a fifteen-minute exercise. Schools have distinct recruiting footprints: some send half the class into consulting, others are dominated by technology or finance, and a few place mainly in their home region. The right school is the one whose footprint contains your target.

What usually goes wrong?

Applying to schools by ranking rather than by outcome is the first mistake, and it produces graduates with a brand and no path. The second is underestimating the cash flow: a two-year programme with living costs and no income is a $300,000 decision for many candidates, and scholarship negotiations happen before you accept, not after. The third is choosing a one-year programme for speed and then discovering that the sector you wanted only hires through summer internships.

If you are weighing an MBA against a shorter credential, our editorial guide to MBA alternatives in the Courses & Certifications directory compares Wharton, HBS Online and edX business programmes by price and credential. That guide cannot be bought; the list above is a directory, where the sponsored block is paid.

Frequently asked questions

Is a full-time MBA still worth it?

For career changers targeting consulting, finance, product management or corporate leadership programmes, the full-time format remains the most reliable route, and the salary data supports it at top-tier schools. For people staying in their sector, the return is weaker than an executive or online programme once lost salary is counted.

Do I need the GMAT or GRE?

At most full-time programmes, yes, although waivers have expanded since 2020. Scores also drive scholarship decisions, so even where a waiver exists a strong test can be worth several tens of thousands of dollars.

How much work experience do I need?

The median at leading schools is about five years; the effective range is two to eight. Beyond ten years, admissions teams will usually steer you towards an Executive MBA.

Can I get a visa and work after the MBA?

The US offers up to three years of post-study work for STEM-designated MBAs, and many top programmes have that designation. The UK offers a two-year graduate visa, Canada up to three years, Singapore and France have their own schemes. Rules change often; check the current position for your nationality before choosing a country.

What about MBAs in Türkiye?

Koç, Sabancı and Bilkent run English-taught MBAs recognised by AACSB or EQUIS, at a fraction of Western fees. They place well with Turkish and regional employers; for a move to Western Europe or the US, a school in that market still carries more weight with recruiters.

How this directory is compiled

Every institution on this page was added by our editors from publicly available information: the school or university, the programme it is known for in one line, and a link to its own site. No school paid to be listed in the free section, none was asked for approval, and inclusion here is not a ranking or a recommendation — it is a starting point for a shortlist you should verify against the institution’s accreditation, admissions page and current fees.

The block at the top of the page is different and is labelled as such. Positions there are paid: a school or programme provider chooses a daily bid and a number of days, pays once, and sits above the free listings for that period, ordered by bid. That is advertising, it is disclosed on every listing, and it has no influence on our editorial course guides or on the Kurums Trust badges, which are earned against published criteria and are never for sale.

Tuition, formats, intake dates and rankings change every year in this sector, so we keep descriptions short and factual. Check the programme’s own page for the current fee, the accreditation body’s register for its status, and treat anything you read in a directory — including this one — as a list of candidates rather than an answer.
